Let's talk about Trump creating money concerns among supporters.... - Belle of the Ranch [View all]

Well, howdy there internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump creating money concerns among supporters.

Reporting has started to emerge that donors to MAGA Inc., which is the super PAC that kind of acts like Trump's primary outside political operation isn't spending money and that it might be holding the money back for things other than the midterm elections. While some are writing it off, there's definitely a little bit of cause for concern because there haven't been major announcements about reserving airtime or anything like that from Trump's machine, and those are normally happening around now. It's been about a month since we reported on the Senate PAC reserving hundreds of millions of dollars worth of ads. It's getting late in the game.

We aren't talking about a little bit of money either. We're talking about around $300 million. That's a lot of money that could be dropped to help battleground races in the House and to try to secure the Senate. There really doesn't seem like there's been a lot of communication when it comes to what the plan is. A former Trump official is reported to have said, "No answer is causing concerns for donors." Is Trump really committed to the midterms because if he were, he would spend his money first. He's going to spend some, but most donors would be shocked if he spent 10% of it.

This is a lot like Trump blowing millions to attack Republicans he doesn't like. It denies Republicans money that they're probably going to need. Here we're talking about a massive amount of money that seems to be sitting idle. If that money doesn't start moving in the next month or so, people will assume Trump is just being Trump and plans on keeping the money to use on other things.

Trump could hang on to the money to try to support his successor or build a library or so on, but those would be conventional reasons to hold on to hundreds of millions of campaign dollars. I'm going to suggest that rather than thinking like a typical politician and trying to figure out what they do with a few hundred million, it might be better to think about it through the lens of what a desperate, power crazed elderly man who is terrified of his own irrelevance would do with that much cash.

I actually think he wants to hang on to the money so he can continue to bully Republicans after the midterms. See, in a traditional political landscape, Trump will automatically enter lame duck status after the midterms. Trump knows a lot of congressional Republicans would treat him like a lame duck right now if they could get away with it. But they need him until the midterms. And the Indiana primary proved that.

If Trump hangs on to a couple hundred million, he can promise to primary other Republicans in 2028 and therefore keep them in line for two more years. Because even though he's term limited and frankly too weak to win another election himself, he can absolutely fund challenges and use his influence over the MAGA faithful to swing primary elections in 2028.

Right now, the Democratic Party just needs to hope that Trump is Trump. If he is, he could take more than a quarter of a billion dollars out of play for Republicans.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
