(6,895 posts)Being a woman wasn't the obstacle in 2024 for Harris. It was the way the Democrats went about the nomination, the short amount of time she had to campaign, and missing the point on the narrative, which is a typical Democratic political mistake. She let side social issues, especially the transgender rights issue, get a higher priority than it should have, instead of taking the time to counter that bit of stupidity, when people wanted to hear more about their own economic hardships.
We'd have a woman in the White House now if the Democratic party leadership had told Joe Biden not to run again in 2024, and started a campaign to dig out potential nominees, with Harris at the top of the list, to start a reasonably long campaign which would have covered up, at least in part, the noise occurring on the GOP side, and given her two years to run, on the campaign trail.
