Polish schoolgirl takes climate fight to parliament
Source: Reuters
WARSAW (Reuters) - A teenager started her summer holidays by campaigning in front of Polands parliament on Friday in a bid to get politicians to act on climate change before an election later this year.
Thirteen-year-old Inga Zasowska takes her inspiration from Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunbergs weekly school strikes, and plans to follow in her footsteps by sitting outside parliament every Friday in July urging lawmakers to act on global warming.
At least in this one situation, politicians should unite and together take decisive action with the aim of cutting greenhouse gas emissions, Zasowska told journalists, flanked by supporters carrying banners.
I dont want empty words during the election campaign, I want real action from politicians now, at this moment! This is the last moment to stop the climate catastrophe!

Over Wednesday and Thursday, the campaign raised 3,266 percent more money than it had the previous two days, according to the statement.

Front-Runner Joe is being reported as "damaged" by Harris today, though I still think a Biden-Warren ticket is the most likely outcome a year from now. But it's no surprise that some Dems are going to be giving second-tier candidates another look over the weekend.

Trudeau's Government Approves Expansion of Divisive Trans Mountain Pipeline

June 18, 2019
OTTAWA Canada will move forward with a pipeline project that has set the countrys provinces against one another, opened rifts among its Indigenous communities and prompted major protests.
The project which will expand the Trans Mountain pipeline that links Albertas oil sands to British Columbia is a critical component of Prime Minister Justin Trudeaus longstanding position that Canada needs to maintain a strong energy industry to support its efforts to combat climate change. His government bought the pipeline from its American owners a year ago to ensure its expansion.
We are a government that cares deeply about the environment, and we care just as deeply about the economic success of Canadians, Mr. Trudeau said at a news conference in Ottawa, announcing his cabinets approval of the expansion. This isnt an either-or proposition.
It is in Canadas national interest to protect our environment and invest in tomorrow, he added, while making sure people can feed their families today.
