Pete and Maddie Update:
After it snowed the other day,

Pete finally accepted a blanket. Mr. Stubborn didn't think he needed one.

At grain time "the kids" are separated temporarily to preserve equal servings.

Maddie ran to join Pete after finishing her grain.

Whereupon they gazed off toward the far-off sound of a chainsaw.

A new builder came by today, met by our "official greeter".

Brian constructs pole barns for a living. He knows what he's doing.

After hanging and securing Tyvek house wrap and cutting a door opening,

he put up sheets of siding.

He held the new door up to the opening,

figured out how much to trim off and did so.

In the course of four steady hours Laurie's barn had a section sided
and her "wo-man" door in place.

She is well pleased.
Thanks for visiting.
Saturday's Horses -- Kate's Story Part III -- Kate's First Ride January, 2010.
In the arena at our old farm, Laurie groomed Kate. Misty looked on.

Under a lunge line for the first time, Kate moved with Laurie.

And Laurie moved with Kate.

Kate redefined "it takes two to tango."

After several turns around the ring Kate was let loose.

She seemed to like being untethered,

expressing new-found freedom.

After awhile Laurie introduced Kate to the weight of a human being,

and then carrying that person on her back.

They took things slowly.

In a word Kate did great.

Mommy was well pleased.

Thanks for "tuning in." See you next week!

Sunrise/Sunset Friday - Sunrises from our old farm.

Before the sunrise.

Sunrise looking to the south.

postimages.org is working again. I don't know why, but everything seems to be like it used to be.
https://postimages.org/KC Wednesday -- Tabletop Shenanigans.
KC likes to hang out in his cat tree,

and on Mommy's recliner, even if she's not there.

One evening he was relaxing on the dining room table.

He spied a gray round plastic whatchamacallit,

which he promptly knocked down to the floor.

He took a swipe at it,

but it only slid a little way away.

So he wound up and smacked it clear through to the other side of the table.
Whereupon he took a look at what he'd accomplished,

and decided he had had enough of this game.

The round piece was returned to the table top,

and KC settled down on the kitchen floor. Enough excitement for one night.

Such is the lively life of our KittyCat.

Shadow Monday -- New Year's Day (whoopee), but then so much more.
On January First Shadow ambled out on the porch.

Looked around, didn't see much and came back inside.

She lay down on the bed.

Next day snow arrived. Shadow has loved snow ever since well, forever.

The second day of 2026 found her outside. In the snowfall.

She likes to lower her head and scoop it up, swallowing snow-lumps.

After dinner she approached dad at the computer.

Getting her subtle hint, he moved to the living room. Shadow followed.

She was teased thoroughly,

then forgot the Bunny and rolled over,

and over,

and over.

Then got up.

And rolled over again.

After which she headed for the bedroom, allowing Bunny to sit for a photo,

or two.

Later that evening Shadow was seen back on our bed.

She ended up January Second snug as a bug in a dog-bed rug.
