Jopin Klobe's JournalThe High Cost of Finance - The Roosevelt Institute
1. Introduction
"The financial crisis of 20072008, whose massive costs are still being felt in
many parts of the country, made clear to most Americans that the financial system
is broken and needs serious reconstructive surgery. It has also become
apparent that the dysfunctions of finance go far beyond the dramatic crashes;
even when the system seems to be operating normally, it costs most of us
dearly on a daily basis and puts the long-term prosperity of our economy at risk.
These dysfunctions involve overcharging for brokerage services, predatory lending,
and generally charging high fees for financial services; misallocating human
talent from productive employment in technology, education, and health care to
less socially productive employment; reorienting non-financial corporate behavior
from long-term investment to short-term speculation that costs jobs, wages, and
productivity growth; and choosing poor investments that put people's retirement
incomes at risk.
The flip side of this coin is that a relatively small number of owners and
operatives in the financial sector make significant salaries, bonuses, and
profits as a result of these practices. Yet finance does not simply create a
zero sum game that transfers income and wealth from customers to bankers and
bank owners. It is worse than that: The destructive aspects of finance also
negatively affect the overall health of the economy, both in the short run and
in the long run. That is, finance has operated in recent years as a negative
sum game. This means that it costs us more than a dollar to transfer a dollar
of wealth to financierssignificantly more. So even if you think our financiers
deserve every penny they get, it would be a lot cheaper simply to write them a
check every year than to let them continue business as usual. ..." ...

Soooooo ... if tRump doesn't have the required number of delegates ...
... and he's the only one left standing ...
... and they don't vote in any more primaries this season ...
... could it possibly be that the "Republicans" will say (at the convention), "Hey! He doesn't have enough delegates." ...
... "Let's screw this up even worse than it is." ... "Let's shove a different klown in there." ...
... then the tRump followers put on their armbands and we all go to hell in a hand-basket ...
NH Sen. Ayotte will support - but not endorse - Trump
Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., has been saying for months that she will support the Republican nominee for President, whoever that turns out to be.
Today, her campaign office released a statement saying Ayotte will support Donald Trump, who became the presumptive Republican nominee Tuesday night with Sen. Ted Cruzs departure from the Republican primary race.
As she's said from the beginning, Kelly plans to support the nominee. As a candidate herself, she hasn't and isn't planning to endorse anyone this cycle, said Liz Johnson, communications director for Kelly for New Hampshire.
Johnson said the senator is not endorsing Trump.

Bernie Sanders Campaign Officially Sues the DNC
"Lawyers for the Bernie Sanders campaign officially served the Democratic National Committee with lawsuit papers over the DNCs decision to deny him access to the voter database back in December.
Both the Sanders campaign and the DNC are waiting for the results of an independent audit conducted after Sanders national data director had made note of a breach in the voter files security, briefly allowing the Sanders campaign access to the Clinton campaigns data. The DNC subsequently cut off the Sanders campaigns access to the voter file a crucial tool for outreach to Democratic voters.
The Sanders campaign immediately fired the staffer who accessed the Clinton campaigns information, and access to the database was restored less than 24 hours after it was removed. Nonetheless, the Sanders campaign argues that the short-lived lack of access was a serious blow to voter outreach
The campaign is seeking $75,000 in damages, alleging breach of contract." ...
