Trump looking for ‘help’ from state legislatures in 2024? Let me rewrite that for you.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party are laying the groundwork to steal future elections.

It’s a helluva story.

But instead of reporting on it nonstop and sounding the alarm for democracy, our corporate media political reporters are treating it like it’s just more partisan politics as usual.

Radical Republican gerrymandering and attempts to limit voting may not be new – but they are getting worse, and they are hugely threatening to the central democratic principle of majority rule.

What is new is that the GOP under Trump has gone so much further, trying to overthrow the 2020 election, actively undermining confidence in the election system, and putting Trump loyalists in a position to overturn election results that don’t go their way in the future.

Sheep May Safely Graze - Those who rule with wisdom guiding

Sheep may safely graze
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Sheep may safely graze" (German: Schafe können sicher weiden) is a soprano aria by Johann Sebastian Bach setting words by Salomon Franck. The piece was written in 1713 and is part of the cantata Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd, BWV 208.[a] The cantata's title translates The lively hunt is all my heart's desire, and it is also known as the Hunting Cantata.

Like the same composer's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", "Sheep may safely graze" is frequently played at weddings.[1] However, the cantata of which it forms a part was originally written for a birthday celebration, that of Christian, Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels. Bach was based at the nearby court of Weimar, and musicians from both courts appear to have joined together in the first performance in Weißenfels. Bach is known to have used the music again for other celebrations, but it remained unpublished until after his death.

Franck's words are given to mythological characters, in this case Pales, a deity of shepherds, flocks, and livestock. Pales compares the peaceful life of sheep under a watchful shepherd to the inhabitants of a state with a wise ruler.[4]

Sheep may safely graze and pasture
In a watchful Shepherd's sight.

Those who rule with wisdom guiding
Bring to hearts a peace abiding
Bless a land with joy made bright.

Hong Kong leader defends US bank head quarantine exemption

Mon, November 15, 2021, 11:23 PM

Hong Kong's leader on Tuesday defended allowing the head of JP Morgan Chase to skip a three-week Covid quarantine imposed on most other visitors, saying he worked for "a very big bank".

The comments came as Hong Kong also announced more than 100 cargo pilots had been ordered into mandatory quarantine and that the city was at risk of running out of air crew.

JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon landed on Monday for a 32-hour whirlwind tour without undergoing the usual 21-day hotel quarantine even as the international business hub tightens restrictions to adhere to China's "zero-Covid" strategy.

Earlier this year HSBC's boss was forced to undergo a full quarantine during a trip to the city.

Hackers compromise FBI email system, send thousands of messages

Source: Reuters

Nov 13 (Reuters) - Hackers compromised a Federal Bureau of Investigation email system on Saturday and sent tens of thousands of messages warning of a possible cyberattack, according to the agency and security specialists.

Fake emails appeared to come from a legitimate FBI email address ending in @ic.fbi.gov, the FBI said in a statement.

Although the hardware impacted by the incident "was taken offline quickly upon discovery of the issue," the FBI said, "This is an ongoing situation."

The hackers sent tens of thousands of emails warning of a possible cyberattack, threat-tracking organization Spamhaus Project said on its Twitter account.

$400 million for prisons . . . $40 million for hospitals. Priorities!

Chris England @RepEngland70

To date, Alabama has made plans to spend $440 million dollars of our American Rescue Plan funds. Of the $440 million, $400 million of it will be spent on building prisons while the other $40 million will be spent on hospitals.
