Sometimes it's all too much...often it is...

There are times when I want to scream in the face of every human being I see that they don't need to take our democracy for granted, that many nations have fallen into fascism in the past. Why can't people see that is what is happening to this nation? They are so worried about socialism, they ignore the grave danger of corruption that is steering the once greatest nation in the world straight into the abyss of fascism. I can become quite despairing, knowing that democracy is hanging on by a thread.

But then I remember that yes, nations have fallen to corrupt leadership before. But nations have also risen up against those corrupt forces, demanded and received justice and accountability for acts against their freedoms. And the ones who corrupted and exploited were sent to prison or death or some other venue of accountability. I will hold onto that thought and remember it when Trump's blatent disregard for law again screams in our faces.

What new concoction have you learned to cook since staying home?

I've learned to make my own version of carne guisada, roasted eggplant sauced and topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Also, have gotten really handy with garbanzo bean salads for lunches. What about you guys? Share?

I do believe Trump could resign...

If his numbers donít start looking better. If he truly believes heís going to lose, he will step down, allow Pence to pardon him and leave the country. He knows he is done soon. He would rather abdicate his position than lose AND be escorted in hand cuffs. He knows whatís coming. The man has a survivorís instinct.

Just gotta take a break...

Hubby and I are having a dinner dance date in what used to be the den. Now, with no furniture and some rope light and speakers, it's our dance room. Miss my dancing community, but you do what you gotta do.

Following the line of thought about this administration offered by Senator Duckworth,

...Trump has fired everyone who opposes his illegal actions. At the end of the day then, all we have left in those important positions, in the Pentagon, for example, are those who will carry out illegal actions. If the administration does not acknowlege they are subject to any laws or court rulings and employ only those who are willing to carry out Trump's illegal orders, then is the coup not complete? If we have one side of the nation that will comply with the laws and the Constitution and the other side, supporting the White House, who doesn't even acknowlege the law and Constitution applies to them, don't we have the basis of the civil war we have suspected Trump was trying to establish? And if those of us who abide the law and Constitution continue to adhere to those principles while the other side refuses, haven't we already lost the battle?

Please offer some thoughts here. Feeling rather desperate.

It matters that Trump was negligent...

in waiting so long to shut down the country. But even worse is his current negligence and encouraging his supporters to ignore social distancing rules, spreading the disease and disinformation even more broadly. How many thousands, or even millions will die because of this campaign of ignorance?

Okay, the census pisses me off!

This question:
Select one or more boxes AND enter origins. For this census, Hispanic origins are not races.

The origins box is not optional. I'm offended and disgusted. What difference does it make my origin? Is that going to qualify my community for more or less federal dollars if I am black, brown, white? WTAF?

I put human.

They know...

I am no longer able to believe that the Republicans, officials and citizens, that support Trump are unaware of the evil. They know. They know and maybe those with any moral fiber left are just waiting for someone else to call it out. The others don't care. They know he is evil. They know he is destroying our nation and our way of life for generations to come. They know, but they don't care because they think they are profiting or they think they will benefit in some way. We need to just call their evil out, call out the fact that they know they are supporting pure evil and corruption. Look them in the eye and tell them, "You know this administration is evil, murderous, corrupt. You know and even though you deny it, you will one day be called to account."

They don't pass up an opportunity to attack even the most minor offenses of any Democrat in office, but there is nothing a Republican can do that doesn't warrant their praise, no matter how cruel, blatantly corrupt or vile the act. They pretend they don't see this disparity, but they do. They see it and they know they are propping up pure evil. Trump is the vehicle and they are the engine of his evil. They know he is evil but he makes their own evil feel justified. They know. Look them in the eye and tell them you know they know.

One of many reasons I reject Christianity...

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/03/watch-baptist-preacher-dismantles-meagachurch-leaders-boast-were-winning-during-coronavirus-crisis/

The preacher that got pissed off is upset because he believes the foundation of Christianity and God's purpose is for people to hold onto their faith even through their suffering. To me, this is sick. This is like staying in a marriage where you are abused, neglected, tormented, just because you're supposed to, just to prove you're worthy of existence. Screw that and screw any God who can't do better than that. Where is the comfort in such a religion? Such concepts provide a model for sick relationships. I reject this crap. GET THEE BEHIND ME!
