Opportunity is hard to come by these days.
The 'by your boot straps' mentality has got to go.
Welfare queens, job snatching immigrants, or whatever "other category" boogeyman is not to blame. Tribalism is a weapon that we have been bludgeoned with for far too long to force division.
Lets stop fearing those other people we don't understand and lets stop blaming the victims of systemic failures. 
The systemic failures as I see them:
Ineffective partisan system, gerrymandering, citizens united (legal corruption), wall street deregulation, cronyism, Electoral College insanity, primary voting insanity, Voting Day is not a holiday, poor access to voting, endless war for profit, few avenues to engage in political discourse, make or break decisions made by unelected judges (SCOTUS) - and its nigh impossible to amend the constitution, archaic legal system, war on drugs, prison profiteering, no or very slow path to citizenship - and the list goes on.
Our oligarchy posing as a pseudo-representative democracy is the issue of our time.
Lets get past this blame game roulette of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief etc. that keeps us divided and talk issues the democratic way.
Bernie is speaking to the progressive ideals of many who already know or are waking up to our dismal political reality. That is why he has my support. 
But he is neither the end, nor the beginning of progress. Lets keep this train rolling and make the Democratic party the party of real progress. I hope we come to expect more true progressive minded candidates in coming years.
