The jury in Fayetteville, about 140 miles (225 kilometers) northwest of Little Rock, found the 33-year-old Duggar guilty on one count each of receiving and possessing child pornography. He faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 for each count when hes sentenced at a later date.
Duggar and his large Arkansas family starred on TLCs 19 Kids and Counting until the network canceled the show in 2015 following revelations that he had molested four of his sisters and a babysitter. Authorities began investigating the abuse in 2006 after receiving a tip from a family friend but concluded that the statute of limitations on any possible charges had expired.
Duggars parents said he had confessed to the fondling and apologized. Duggar later apologized for a pornography addiction and for cheating on his wife.
The judge in the child porn case ruled that jurors could hear testimony about how in 2003, Duggar admitted to molesting four girls. A family friend testified that Duggar told her about the abuse.

Pedophiles don't fair well in prison. I can see solitary confinement in his future. And I'm proud of that jury.

The party of personal responsibility ALWAYS tries to distance their actions from the suffering of their victims, as much as possible.

Jussie Smollet? His trial gets tons of coverage.
But a far worse crime, by a white conservative, (naturally,) hardly gets mentioned.
If at all.

(22,557 posts)Asking, because they don't jive with what I've seen elsewhere...by quite a bit.
Also, it's hard to see how any of the cable news networks could stay on the air with such a tiny viewership. Among other things, they wouldn't be able to sell any advertising time, and they obviously do sell quite a lot.

(40,344 posts)Here's a link that I had in a post here I made back in August that lists the viewers of various news shows
http://www.ratingsryan.com/2021/08/news-ratings-week-ending-august-8-2021.html
You'll see that the cable news networks have far fewer viewers then the legacy broadcast news shows.
A google search finds the adult population of the US
"In 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau counted 331.4 million people living in the United States; more than three-quarters (77.9%) or 258.3 million were adults, 18 years or older"
https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/08/united-states-adult-population-grew-faster-than-nations-total-population-from-2010-to-2020.html
Fox News Primetime had 1,537,000 viewers the evening of 2 Aug 21. That's less then 1% oof the adult population of the US. compare that to ABC news which had 5 times the viewers Fox had for that particular day.

He could get more than 5. However, Duggar was only charged with one count
I compared him to Jared Fogle. (Subway) Fogle's case was more involved and he had an extra charge of sex act with a minor...Fogle is serving 15 years.

(15,325 posts)Ugh. What a filthy gross family that hid it all. His dumb dad too!
The witness that testified was the mom of a girl he was courting, almost ready to marry before Anna, she said he confessed it to them and they called everything off.
HOWEVER:
Anna's family sold her to the duggars because they were celebrities. They knew what he had done to his sisters, he was required to confess it to her parents. They didn't care.
Hang your heads in shame you sinners.

Look at how the mostly corporate news media ran with Hunter Biden, Weiner and Al Franken stories.
Not that Weiner's a prize with his sex-offending behind--sexting with his son sitting next to him along with other hideous things he did, but my God what Dugger did is filth on top of filth on top of filth, and hopefully he'll do the whole 20 years, and becomes a pariah. But he won't, and especially not in these deep red states.
This filthy asshole sexually molested 5 girls and 4 were his OWN sisters, and he was addicted to kiddie porn. We may hear a bit of news on it, but the mostly corporate right-winged media isn't fixated on this hideous of most hideous crime stories

(8,246 posts)Ya gotta be in awe though of the lengths they will go to, to find child abusers. Go to a pizza shop, fire a gun looking for children in basement that doesnt exist, see cryptic messages about child abuse in a lost handkerchief, swear they have seen footage of HRC feasting on the blood of children when perpetrators are right there in their midst or amongst people they associate with.

(10,478 posts)I once had a guy download a ton of kiddie porn onto a Rent-a-Center computer. Returned the computer, including the intact hard drive, for an upgrade and got nabbed. He argued that they couldnt prove it was his, which unfortunately was true.
The REALLY stupid thing was he didnt learn his lesson and despite having all kinds of Children & Youth caseworkers all over his house he did it again many times and got caught red handed by police.
Kiddie porn can be a tough case to make.

(34,209 posts)Disgraced reality TV star Josh Duggar faces decades in prison after he was found guilty today of downloading a vile trove of 'the worst of the worst' child porn.
Jurors deliberated for six hours before returning guilty verdicts on charges of possessing child pornography and receipt of child pornography, both punishable by 20 years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
Duggar, 33, glanced anxiously toward his wife Anna and dad Jim Bob but showed little emotion as each juror was asked individually to reaffirm their decision.
The once clean-cut Christian star of 19 Kids and Counting finally broke down in tears, however, as marshals placed him in handcuffs but allowed him to linger for a few moments beside his family in the public gallery.
