Putin should not be allowed to veto anything! Also, I believe they should bomb his damn palace! Hit him where it hurts most!

(6,573 posts)If they can't vote out a rogue state who is destabilizing Europe by actively bombing another country and stealing another country's territory, then they don't exist. They have nothing to lose.
Just tell the "President" to not bother coming back. Next country up, please.

(6,573 posts)I think it was a big mistake for Putin to start bombing during the peace meeting. Those countries are all pissed. They absolutely could make him step aside. Maybe they can't get rid of them yet, but...
They seem to be bombing Kiev...that would mean that they plan to take the entire country. They appear to be trying for all the airports. That's what you do, you know, take out the airports so NO HELP can fly in...
So, in view of this, do you anticipate that they will NOT boot Russia? If the UN has to come in with troops, Russia will not participate. So, maybe they will be considered to be a former member of the UN.
Dial H For Hero
(2,971 posts)Likewise, any attempt to boot Russia from the UN would be similarly vetoed by them.

(6,573 posts)In the first few paragraphs. He gave the Council a lot to consider. For legal purposes, A. something about them not joining in a regular manner, and B. they are not acting in accordance with the purpose and charter of the UN. So, they can be kicked out. It just takes the will to do it.
Perhaps tomorrow morning, some country will hand in the notice that Russia is no longer a member. Hand it right to their Ambassador, and ask for his keys to the diplomat washroom.

(92,481 posts)Gonna be kind of awkward if the UN decides to send troops, and Russia is a member...maybe they'll quit? Just kick them out, they know they'll have to...
