Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhat is it with the right fascination with the term pronoun(s)?
Most of their references have little, if any relation to an actual pronoun. The Twitter Tyrant had absolutely nothing to do with a pronoun. Maybe I am gravitating to being part of the grammar police but I am not alone.

(12,641 posts)Here are nine types of pronouns:
Personal pronouns (e.g., subject, direct, indirect)
Demonstrative pronouns (e.g., this, that, these)
Interrogative pronouns (e.g., which, who, whose)
Indefinite pronouns (e.g., none, several, any)
Possessive pronouns (e.g their two favorites: my and mine)
Reciprocal pronouns (e.g., each other, one another)
Relative pronouns (e.g., which, who, that)
Reflexive pronouns (e.g., itself, ourselves)
Intensive pronouns (e.g., itself, ourselves: to emphasize that it is the thing carrying out the action)

(108,783 posts)The pronoun game is the latest in the long list of things the right wing uses to divide us and keep us fighting with each other while they consolidate all the wealth and power in this country. Its the circle of shit and it screws us all.

(108,783 posts)They keep us fighting with each other over bullshit, while they install lackeys and puppets who will do their every evil bidding in every level of government. Nothing is spared. That's why we're now at the literal book banning stage over culture war bullshit nonsense. It's how we got a 6 - 3 SCOTUS in favor of MAGA leaning religious fundamentalists. It's how we lost Florida and Texas.

(81,277 posts)Not just the ones you mention, but a big laundry list of groups actively working to overturn our democracy.
The clear goal is to install white, male, christian minority fascist rule.
They want to join the other autocratic countries in shifting world power.

(108,783 posts)When I found out that my local school board banned books and censored critical race theory content, I just about blew a gasket. Fuck Tucker Carlson, if there is a hell, it waits for him.

Yes I never thought Americans would vote out their democracy and install fascist while minority rule.

(38,643 posts)LGBTQI+ people have been at the back of the bus forever, patiently waiting for our turn at becoming full citizens, and fully welcomed in society - because other things were more important than our issues (and fighting for our issues would endanger the election/a critical bill/etc.).
Please don't call fighting for things which are (sometimes literally**) critical to our survival bullshit.
**Suicide/attempted suicide rate of LGBTQI is incredibly high - in large part becasue of the toll being excluded/stigmatized takes on them.

(34,915 posts)they don't even know what is a pronoun. Verbs (prosecute) and nouns (Fauci) are not pronouns, you fuckwits.
A lot of their mocking of pronouns is also an attempt to demean the younger generation, since they're mostly the ones using them. These kids are the antithesis of everything the GOP stands for, and this smacks of GOPers trying to turn them into another enemy.

(26,183 posts)Really, no one worried about pronouns (they were assumed a given) until recently. Once they knew it was a thing, it became something to mock. However, like all things the right mock (see gay marriage) society will quickly adapt and soon complaining about it will be seen only as a badge of inclusion in the very narrow conservative movement. In the end, it's not a big deal to most people.

(38,643 posts)That practice makes a space more welcoming to people whose pronouns differ from the assumptions many people make based on their presentation - or who use non-traditional pronouns (they/ze/xe/etc.)
Right wing jerks are using it to mock those of us who believe it is important to be welcoming.
