(25,622 posts)It is not our role to assess the criminal charges pending against Mr. Trump, but several material distinctions between Mr. Trump's case and Mr. Biden's are clear. Unlike the evidence involving Mr. Biden, the allegations set forth in the indictment of Mr. Trump, if proven, would present serious aggravating facts.
Most notably, after being given multiple chances to return classified documents and avoid prosecution, Mr. Trump allegedly did the opposite. According to the indictment, he not only refused to return the documents for many months, but he also obstructed justice by enlisting others to destroy evidence and then to lie about it. In contrast, Mr. Biden turned in classified documents to the National Archives and the Department of Justice, consented to the search of multiple locations including his homes, sat for a voluntary interview. and in other ways cooperated with the investigation.

(7,480 posts)A summary would be nice. Some of us find videos annoying or impossible to watch for personal reasons.

While questioning Hur in the House of Representatives, Dean asked him to read from the section of the report that contrasted Biden's actions with Trump's.
"The allegations set forth in the indictment of Mr. Trump, if proven, would present serious aggravating facts," Hur began.
"Keep going," Dean prodded
"Congresswoman, I'm happy to have you read the words of my report," Hur offered.
However, Dean wouldn't take no for an answer.
"It's your report, so I think it actually is more fitting that you read those," she said.
Hur then continued.
"Most notably, after being given multiple chances to return classified documents and avoid prosecution, Mr. Trump allegedly did the opposite," he said.
"Keep going," said Dean.
"According to the indictment, he not only refused to turn over the documents for many months but he also obstructed justice by enlisting others to destroy evidence and lie about it," he said.
"You may stop there," said Dean.

(15,613 posts)It carries more weight making him read his own words. Let's see if the media replays that portion.

(7,921 posts)some impact on public opinion...after Biden decimated the Republicans at the SOFU, Hur's doddering old dude ramble is pretty much swirling the metaphorical toilet...

(25,622 posts)As you noted and as I noted above, this was all in the report. It shouldn't be news to anyone, though it seems that many perhaps never got past the salacious parts noted by bloggers and social media.
Unfortunately, that's the trend, of late. Context is largely ignored in the service of either elation or outrage.
