He is not on the Biden wagon. He has a lot of influence over many different ages. This just brought me down watching it.

(2,054 posts)By then I felt the damage was done. We need unity to capture the House and Senate along with the presidency. We dems really do shoot ourselves in the foot with our objective honesty. I don't care if he stutters and loses his train of thought occasionally. He has proven himself over the last 4 years. If something awful happens over the next 4 years, that's why we have a vice president. She is more than capable as well. Judging by what happened to Hillary it may be the only way a woman will ever be president in this misogynistic country.

(1,167 posts)Why would I want to listen to anti-Biden propaganda. Heck I've unsubscribed to many of the YouTube channels when they started posting anti-Biden "news."

(10,969 posts)People can't alert on what others are saying at their kitchen tables, although I imagine some do sorely yearn for the power.
Stewart's general outlook and attitude are exactly what I'm hearing from just about everywhere outside of insulated partisan spaces.
I do, however, disagree with his remedy. A brokered convention would be a disaster for the party and our chances in the election. I just don't see any world where that happens and it goes well for us. A portion of our party and base is held together by a coalition that is, for good or ill, identity groups lashed together with scotch tape. Open that can of worms at a late date, and it will be a shitshow.
The President seems likely to hold on to the nomination. If, for whatever reason, he steps down, it has to be Harris. Anything else would be civil war and split the base.

(5,370 posts)You're right re the convention disaster. Plus, people are dreaming if they think the press is going to back off if this happens. If anything, it'll be worse. I thought Tiedrich nailed it in his latest rant.

(3,894 posts)Democratic turn-coats should get a grip! It was a bad DEBATE, even a weak start!! But not a "disaster" for President Biden & VP Harris
Good grief.. it was a DEBATE! If they wanted to replace President Biden as our candidate, why did they wait until doing this was practically an impossibility?
Doing this, saying these things now weaken us.. they are throwing the Democratic Party into disarray, which is something putin and the trumpkins are clearly counting on.
"nose dive" does not even begin to describe how I feel about this.

Maybe hes too old for this job, and its time for him to step down?

(415 posts)Idk why I mostly stopped in the mid-aughts. Probably because life and no cable. It might have been for the best if he'd stayed gone, so that people would think fondly of him/be nostalgic about him. Instead, he comes back in time for the 2024 election cycle, and what little I've seen of him seems a bit tired and pretentious. JMO.

(13,247 posts)There is no middle ground in this election. Sad to see Stewart passively supporting Trump. As a Jew, he should have a better grasp of history and at the very least should read the Project 2025 manifesto. He used to be funny. Time marches on, though.

(48,962 posts)and he hes not calling Biden to drop out. But the way the staff handled the fallout from the debate created a problem. Those varied excuses created the problem Joe's handling this, and will get the campaign back on track. Jon's right though Get On Board Or Shut The Fuck Up is not a compelling pro-democracy bumper sticker, and that's not Joes way.

(53,214 posts)He's dissed Biden before because of his age and I was pretty sure that this week's episode would be very upsetting. Apparently I was right.
I used to love Jon Stewart, but he's been a major disappointment since he's returned to The Daily Show. I don't have the time or energy to waste on these people anymore. I crossed SNL off my list over a year ago because of the tasteless, tired ageism jokes and of course, Bill Maher has jumped the shark in numerous ways. Watch out Stephen Colbert, you could be next.
That's okay, it gives me more time to watch movies and read.
