(15,771 posts)All of them minimized the actual danger to women's health and we all know it. So don't blame a 20 something for not getting the full message when we know full well that the real message was blocked

I don't know how we deal with all this stupidity.
We will soon enter the find out phase...
Wait till they start feeling those economic pains Musk talked about. Hopefully this young lady has her parents paying for her education. Hopefully she is not receiving pell grants or money made available through student loans. What programs will be cut at ASU? All public universities will probably see all kinds of cuts.

(17,802 posts)Emergency financial aid grants
The federal government requires that ASU award at least $134 million in emergency financial aid grants to students in need. These funds are used to support students in campus-based and digital immersion programs.
Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF)
In 2022, ASU received $199 million in one-time HEERF revenue.
Federal Pell Grants
These grants are awarded to eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. The U.S. Department of Education uses a formula to determine eligibility.
Research expenditures
ASU ranks highly in federal research expenditures, including NASA funds and health and human services funds.
Plus they likely receive title 9 funds and other federal assistance grants.
Gone. All likely gone.

(15,771 posts)And I literally just emailed both of my advisors telling them that I was desolate. And that basically the end of the department of education in federal funding means what...?
... that they will go under? that education means nothing?
All of my dreams turn to Ash. I thought at 55 I had a chance at turning things around. I guess I know better now

Let us know how they respond. But i wouldnt do anything rash until you are forced to. You might just squeek through before they do anything.

Just a note, I had a Catholic friend long ago that wanted her tubes tied after giving birth and the Catholic surgeon refused to do so.

I know that I said and did a lot of dumb things as a college student, but I never said or did anything that dumb.
You can't characterize an entire generation by them, though. I had some very bright students discuss politics with me and they were very firmly Harris/Walz and very well informed.

(23,084 posts)Years ago I had a friend who was against John Kerry because he mispronounced Lambeau Field (home of the Green Bay Packers) and called it Lambert field. Like Kerry was supposed to be an expert on the NFL. People can be really dumb when they're young. And when they're old too.

ASU's journalism school is named after Walter Cronkite. He would be very unhappy to see this kind of student attending.
