I have never seen it pointed out in print, but the cartoonists have been making fun of the rabbit incident since it happened. Any wild animal that behaves outside its normal range of activity may well be sick. Rabies is a common disease among all sorts of animals. If Mr. Carter was aware of that, he did well to keep the rabbit away from his boat.

16. I had to go to Wikipedia to learn about the rabbit incident.

It is sad to see that the media used it against Carter, and did their dirty work of helping to defeat his reelection campaign.
