OK, where did I put my house key? I've looked everywhere!

Seriously, beside the usual places you would look, can you suggest one I might not have thought of? I've tried: the last store I was in, the store before it, all my pants pockets, handbag, car (between seats, etc), driveway, laundry basket, bathrooms, nail salon, hair salon.

I ask because sometimes you miss the obvious place and maybe you can make a suggestion...

Thank you!

3. Are you in your house?
Fri Jun 26, 2020, 02:50 PM
Jun 2020

I mean, did you lose it after unlocking the door to your house? It might be right at the door or if you have a storm door, between the door and storm door. I have lost a key that way before. Also, check your A/C vents, if you have any. Things fall in those so easy, especially if you have cats around. Cats like to stick things down in those to watch things fall. Cats are smarter than we think. So, ask the cats or watch them, if you have cats. They are jokers.

P.S. Did you drive all those places or do you live in a city where you can walk back to all those places? If you drove, it might be on your key ring still or in your car, depending on how you normally keep up with your car keys and house keys.

Then forgot about it.

Another great way to find keys is to start cleaning up.

Also, looks around the area you normally put your keys, look really well. They could be under a piece of paper within a few inches of the place you normally put them.

Search or clean systematically. Clean and search one space at a time. Move to next space after you finish.

I've had to develop a good strategy for finding them and the best one was cleaning up or at least picking up and moving the clutter in a systematic way.

Over the last couple of years, I settled on trying to improve my memory a bit and that has helped, but it still happens and off I go cleaning.

I also repeat the name of the object over and over. Probably sounds crazy, but it seems to work for me.

Now I am thinking I didn't have it when I went shopping since I knew hubby was home and I could leave the door unlocked. So I have been over the kitchen counter a LOT. I alerted my house cleaner who was there at the time so if she has any memory of a key she can call. I'll check some places there (it's a small kitchen, however).

We have a couple of extra keys so no problem. I just will miss my special fob (a museum memento).

The newer tiles have a replaceable battery.

One for your key chain and then load the app on your phone.

Dh loses keys, phones and wallets with some regularity. Setting off the tile app has rescued his key/wallet more than once. And of course hitting the button on the tile will find his phone, so it works both ways.

It was where I had first looked (but not well enough)!

I had done a visualization but never got past the one place I had seen it last. So I wasn't crazy, I just had overlooked it the first time I searched there. I had changed purses, always a treacherous venture, IMO! I was getting ready to throw the old one out, but decided to empty it of all of its contents first and there it was!

A huge thanks to all of you who gave me moral support and great advice. It was, in the end, in the last place I put it...
