We Should Have Early In-Person Voting Nationwide

All Americans should have 30 days to cast a vote. The federal government should pay for the cost. If we can afford two wars at the same time and a $780 billion Wall Street bailout, then we can afford early voting.

Look for Republicans To Attack Early Voting After The Election

It will be their new line of "voter fraud" bullshit attack.

If You Have The Ability to Create Your Own Currency, How Can You Ever Be Broke?

Let's say that you have the ability to print your currency using your computer printer, and every merchant accepted your printouts as a valid exchange for goods and services. You need to pick up your dry cleaning? You printout a $20 bill and your cleaners hand over your garments without question. Same would be true for your mortgage, groceries, car note, etc. Your creditors even accept your printouts as payment on your debts.

Given this, how can you ever be broke? Answer, you cannot be broke. The U.S. government is not in debt simply because it can create currency to pay off the debt, and our creditors gladly accept our currency as payment on our debts. You see, the world needs our dollars because the world needs oil, and in order to buy oil, you need dollars, which means that the world needs to stockpile dollars, and that means that the U.S. can print all of the money that it wants without incurring massive hikes in interest rates to attract lenders.

So, why the hue and cry about America being broke? Simple. The elites in this country need to create a defcit and scarcity crisis in order to dissuade the public from voting for increased social spending on things like a universal health care program, better education, better benefits for SS recipients better infrastructure, etc. You cannot argue against the logic nor the need for these programs, but you can argue that you cannot pay for them. Additionally, more social spending means that the public is not as dependent on corporate America for their economic survival. For example, if you have universal healthcare, you don't have to take a job just for the health benefits. If you have a generous Social Security program, you don't have to invest in the market.

The "Game of Thrones" ("A Song of Fire and Ice") Books *****NO SPOILERS*****

So, I took advantage of the Amazon deal, first 4 books for $20. I was thinking that it would take me 4 months to read them all. I started into them, and I read the first three in a month. I am now in the 4th book.

My review: WOW. They're really, really good books. It's a fantasy story but directed towards a very Adult mindset. There are very few neat resolutions and often injustices are never corrected, much like the real world.

The American People Need To Vote For Their Best Interests and Stop Being Morons

After 8 years of Bush II...after the Florida recall debacle of 2000, 9/11, the outright lies leading to the invasion of Iraq, the secret torture, the WMD lies, the poor economic performance, Katrina, the housing bubble, the financial collapse, the recession..after all of that and more, to think that the Republicans can still muster significant political support angers me greatly.

I am losing all patience with the American people and American politics in general. At some point, the American people have to protect themselves and vote their best interests regardless of who is running for office.

A vote for Romney/Ryan is a vote to end Medicare as we know it. If Romney/Ryan are elected, then many Americans will lose health care coverage when they reach a certain age. Many more Americans will lose Medicaid coverage.

A vote for Romney/Ryan is a vote to cut taxes on the super-wealthy while either raising taxes on the middle class to pay for it or exploding the deficit.

A vote for Romney/Ryan means a new war in Iran/Syria and an endless continuation of the war in Afghanistan.

A vote for Romney/Ryan means a threat to women's reproductive choices.

A vote for Romney/Ryan means no economic safety net for you if you lose your job and cannot get another one.

If one debate performance makes you vote against your own best interest, then you are a f**cking moron, and you deserve the hell coming your way AGAIN.

One Last Plea: Get Over The Damn Debate and Stop Obsessing About Every Damn Poll

For the love of Christmas on Sundays, get over the debate. It was a bad performance. We get it. Shrug it off and move on. The American people are not going to care about the damn debate when they go to vote.

Also, please stop posting polls from suspect sources. I don't care if the "America Chooses Poll" shows Mitt Romney in the lead in Colorado by 2 points. Some of you curl up in the fetal position without even considering the source. Have you thought that the Republicans may be saturating the media with fake ass polls in order to create some kind of wave?

If you must follow polling, go to Nate Silver's blog. Nate is even-handed and straight forward without any political bias. He called the 2010 midterm elections much to the chagrin of many here, and he confirmed vote totals in the Wisc. Supreme Court race which outraged some here. So, he's a straight shooter, and he has Obama at 84% chance of winning the Electoral College.

If you still find yourself worrying 48 hours after the debate, then take some action. Donate $5 to Grayson or Warren. Go make some phone calls. Go read a book. Exercise. Do something other than post doom and gloom on DU.

And yes, I know about the hide feature. Thank you very much.
