A Simple Question

re: January 6, 2021

Was it an attempted coup?

The Supreme Court is in session today.

What would prevent them from ruling on the Trump "executive privilege" claim?

If they were truly concerned about our Constitution and our country, they would have done it already.

Many argue that it is a cut and dry case - the defeated former president has no claim to "executive privilege" in this case. He must turn the documents over to the Congress, the Representatives of the people.

The 1/6 Committee requested that they expedite their ruling but there is no reason to believe they will be in any hurry to expose their former Leader?

Today would be the perfect day to send it back to the lower court.

The FOX News defense against the January 6th attack upon our Capitol?

I watched a bit of FOX News tonight, at the end of the Tucker Carlson show and the beginning of Sean Hannity, but enough to see how they were spinning today's events around the January 6th remembrance.

It was mostly their "how about" argument.

"How about" all those fires and damage done during the summer riots, after the killing of George Floyd? It was much more damage than was done on January 6th, Hannity said. They were rioting in Lafayette Square and burning a federal building and Trump had to be escorted to a safe place in the basement of the White House.

"How about" when Kamala Harris said the violence would continue and should continue, and would continue after the election. They had a video of the VP's comments to back up their claims.

They ridiculed how the Democrats could have let all of this happen but pretended the event on 1/6 was like 9/11 or Pearl Harbor. They minimized the entire attack.

However wrong the riots and property damage may have been during the summer riots, it was not a direct threat to our democracy. It was not an attempt to overthrow an election or to overthrow our government. It was not organized by the leaders of the Democratic Party, as a means to get rid of the government in Washington.

As much as FOX and the right-wing would want to equate the two sides of violence, they were not the same. Their argument fails at so many points. It is a false equivalency.

The DOJ is never going to drop the investigation of the attempted coup of January 6th, 2021.

Even if Republicans take back the House in 2022, the DOJ will continue to investigate and prosecute at least until January of 2025. They are not going to give up or drop their efforts to find out exactly what happened and who was responsible and who should be held accountable?

Even if a Republican wins the Presidency in 2024, Merrick Garland will appoint a Special Counsel with a large team of prosecutors to continue the investigation after he is gone from office. It is not going to disappear. No one is getting away with anything. It takes time and the DOJ is very patient. None of the criminals should think they can sleep soundly.

America needs Mike Pence to step forth.

More than anyone else, he knows what the plan was for January 6th. Regardless of what he may have supported, or went along with, before January 6th, and no matter if he did not make it public, when the moment came for him to betray his country, he refused. Under immense pressure from several quarters, he followed the Constitution.

The country needs him to tell what he knows. He owes it to the people of this country. History will look much more favorably toward him if he chooses to be a "patriot" moreso than if he were lucky enough to ever be elected President of the United States. (The disgraced, defeated, former president has said that Pence is "mortally wounded" from ever running for president. Was that a passing comment or was that a threat to Mike Pence?)

Does Mike Pence have the courage to stand up to his Party and the insurrectionists that hate him with a passion? Would he have to go into witness protection if he told the truth? It is the biggest decision he will ever make in his life.

Sean Hannity urges his viewers to be sure to watch his show tonight.

Last night, he had Mark Meadows on as his special guest. There were a lot of "how abouts" and "what abouts" in their discussion. It was obvious from their comments that they plan on fighting back hard on the recent email exposures, etc. There will be no cooperation from the FOX News side of the consiracy.

Why was Hannity building up his show for tonight? Is he going to have a "special guest"? Perhaps Donald Trump?

He promised it would be a response to all the coverage that will be on the other networks today.

The two words that few dare to mutter...

'Seditious conspiracy"

Because it sounds too serious, too criminal?

But it is what it is. It is serious and criminal.

Does it really serve a purpose to not call it "seditious conspiracy"?

We have seen it with our own eyes and we now see the evidence that has come forward with many witnesses.

It is not a mere "dereliction of duty". It is seditious behavior and actions by a group of people, led by the former president of the United States, that attempted a coup against our government.

Is it time to call it what it is?

"I was only following orders".

Where have we heard that before?

It didn't work for the Nazis and it is not going to work for the Trump insurrectionists.

How many of these insurrectionists have we heard say that they came to the Capitol because their "Commander-in-Chief" ordered them to come? They believed they were protecting our country. They believed the election was stolen from them.

It was not just the foot soldiers that followed the orders of their Leader, it was also Congressmen and Senators. They should have known better. They are more guilty than the foot soldiers because they took an oath to defend our Constitution. Instead, they betrayed our country and their oath.

The Party that preaches "responsibility" doesn't want to take it.

The "Dirty" List

What to do with the 100+ Congressmen that colluded to overthrow an election and betrayed their oath to defend the Constitution?

They are not going to be kicked out of Congress, so what options are left? No doubt, most of them will run for re-election.

First of all, the people that vote for them need to know exactly what they are voting for. Then, if they still choose to vote for them, that is their choice.

In my opinion, the DCCC should have an ad to run in each of their districts, warning the voters of just who and what they are voting for? There should be a list of all the 100+ names shown in the ad.

At the end of the ad, this question should be asked:

Is Your Congressman on this list?

I can think of no better way to make them feel the heat.
