A psychological bombshell for Trump supporters?

Many of them will see the criminal referrals as a verdict on their Leader. They do not understand the process.

Trump will use it to maximum effect. He will attack the Democrats, the Congress, the FBI, the DOJ, the Special Counsel, Merrick Garland, and whomever he can muster up in his stream of consciousness. He will call for revenge. If his supporters are true patriots, then they must defend him.

There will be turmoil on the Trump team. The guilty ones will be the quietest, in my opinion. Those that assisted Trump in his effort (his crime) to overthrow an election (our government) will slink away to some far corner until the smoke clears.

The "Cult" will be confused. Most will dismiss it as pure politics.

A sense of belated relief with the criminal referrals.

Although the referrals will have no legal bearing, they still seem to be very important and relevant in the case of the former criminal in the White House.

For the first time, someone is calling him on his criminality. It is long overdue.

Someone is finally telling him that he is responsible and liable for the crimes he has committed against the people of this country and our Constitution.

Personally, that gives me some comfort and relief.

If criminal referrals are so meaningless...?

..why is TFG so worked up about them?

The Committee cannot charge him or prosecute him. They can only refer him to the DOJ.

The Committee is looking at the referrals from an historical viewpoint, in my opinion. With all the evidence they have gathered against TFG, why wouldn't they refer him to the DOJ?

The "witch hunt" is over. The witch has been discovered. The witch broke numerous laws. The Committee is only reporting them. They have no more power.

It is up to the DOJ to prosecute the crimes against our people and our nation. The Committee will have done its job.

What innocent person is going to step forward and defend the "witch"?

The House Ethics Committee is unique amongst all the Congressional committees...

...in that, it is made up of 10 members, totally bi-partisan with equal numbers from each Party.

There is a high likelihood that several members of Congress will be referred to the Ethics Committee for their parts in the attempted coup and the January 6th insurrection.

It is unlikely that there will be any quick, anonymous verdict to clear any of the people that will be referred to the Ethics Committee.

If they cannot clear their names, they can run for re-election in 2024 with the charges hanging over their heads.

The Crime of this Century is not going away.

To put it bluntly, if there is a boil on the body politic, it must be lanced...

Otherwise, it will only get worse.

We can try to cover it up. We can pretend there is no pain. But it is always there.

It has to be lanced and the poison removed.

What will be the reactions from the Trump base when the Committee recommends criminal referrals?

For Donald Trump and his criminal cohorts on Monday?

Will they mostly be silent? Will most of the screaming come from the Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan and Ted Cruz types in the Congress and Senate?

Can Donald Trump still rally "his people" to support him against the criminal referrals? Will he just call it another "witch hunt"?

Or will he be like the little boy that cried wolf and nobody came?

Republicans did everything they could do to stop the January 6th investigation.

At first, right after the attack upon our Capitol, Republicans seemed ready to create a bi-partisan Commission to investigate what happened on January 6th. It would be similar to the 9/11 Commission. But when they realized that it might make the Republicans look bad, they nixed the Commission idea.

Kevin McCarthy then agreed with Nancy Pelosi that they should create a bi-partisan Committee in Congress, with equal subpoena powers across the board, but after he went down to Mar-a-Lago to visit their disgraced Leader, he changed his mind. He pulled every Republican off the Committee and, more or less, declared it dead.

However, Speaker Pelosi had the historical foresight to see that this was not something that could be swept under the rug. It was an attempted coup of our government that threatened the lives of herself and many others, including the former VP, Mike Pence.

She was able to get two hard-core conservatives to join a Select Committee to investigate what happened on January 6th. She wanted Liz Cheney to be Co-Chairman of the Committee. Adam Kinzinger joined the Democrats in the investigation also. It would be a bi-partisan Committee, regardless of how much the Republicans were opposed to it.

If not for Nancy Pelosi and the members of the Select Committee, we can only guess where we would be today, in regards to knowing the details of what happened on the January 6th insurrection.

Their report is due to come out next week and the people will know a lot more about what happened on that day and who conspired to over-throw an election and attempted to install an autocrat into power.

Republicans are still opposing the efforts to get the truth. They would like very much to cover it up and forget about it. But history will not permit it.

Should Special Counsel subpoena Kevin McCarthy?

Why did he make such a dramatic change after January 6th insurrection?

What conversation did he have with Trump when he went down to Mar-a-Lago?

What did Trump say to change his mind? Did he promise to help him win the Speaker's job?

Was he persuaded that the story would not last very long and in a few weeks, everyone would have forgotten all about it?

How much does Kevin know?

Why did some Congressmen ask for "pardons" and some did not?

Is there a distinction?

Did some of them think they were doing something criminal and wanted to protect themselves from any prosecution?

And the others were simply "true believers"? They believed just what their leaders told them. In other words, "brainwashed". They believed the election was stolen, contrary to all the evidence and lack of proof otherwise.

For those that requested pardons, they seemed to know it was wrong, but decided to do it anyway.
