Too Big To Jail?

Bigger than the FBI. Bigger than the CIA. Bigger than the governments of Europe. Bigger than the US Congress. Bigger than the US Government.

It seems we are dealing with an international criminal organization that is larger than any country or any legal institution? Somehow, there is always an escape hatch? Somebody is being paid off. Somebody is being bribed. Somebody is being threatened. The "System" is there to use for the criminals.

Nobody is above the law? Perhaps we should re-think that? It has become painfully obvious that the law does not apply to the wealthiest criminals in the world.

Perhaps someday, we will find justice for these people. But I have my doubts that we will find it within our political system. Our country, our laws, our system of justice is not as strong as we once may have thought.

I realize this is a cynical view to have but I firmly believe that justice delayed is justice denied. Everywhere I look, I see justice delayed.

Who is Puppet #1 ? Boris or Donald?

It's pretty obvious both of them are Putin's puppets but it's hard to say which one Putin appreciates more? Both are doing his work for him. It would probably hurt Donald's feelings if he found out that Pootie liked Boris more than he?

Boris pushed the English Parliament right up to precipice. Then, a few members woke up and said, "Not yet!" Boris wanted a new election called. The Parliament refused.

America's democracy is under threat and is close to getting to the point that the Brits just experienced. It must reach a crisis point before anyone will do anything to prevent it. Both governments are on very shaky ground, in my opinion.

Who profits from it? Russia and Vladimir Putin.

The Puppet Master.

Why Alabama??

Why did El Presidente insist on putting Alabama in the path of Hurricane Dorian?

His pattern has been to create lies to supplement lies he plans on telling in the near future. He likes people to think of him as a seer, who can predict the future.

Most of all, at this specific time, he is more concerned about his next election than anything else in the world. He is desperate about it.

Alabama just happens to be one of his chosen targets, along with Florida and Ohio and Pennsylvania. So when he goes to Alabama in a few days, or a few weeks, he can tell them that he was prepared to protect them if the Hurricane came into their state. He will do anything to curry favor with the voters.

The state of Kentucky could do a lot to help this country.

They could vote out Mitch McConnell and rid this nation of the scourge he has brought upon it.

Nothing could begin the healing process of this nation more, except perhaps the exile of Donald Trump to an island somewhere?

Mitch McConnell has broken our government, almost single-handedly. He gets no opposition from his fellow Republicans. They are complicit in every respect.

But Kentucky needs to hear the "Mayday!" from the rest of America and throw out the scoundrel that is so harming our nation.

What grade would you give the House and Senate ?

What grade would you give them separately and combined?

Why?

Personally, I would give them both low grades for being unable to communicate.

I would definitely give the Senate an "F".

"Should we" or "Should we not" arguments have grown tiresome.

I have made my share of arguments about why I think Democrats should impeach. I have heard just as many passionate arguments against impeachment. Democrats are clearly divided on this subject.

I am not one to indulge in hero worship or the superior intellect of our leaders, in circumstances such as these. I recoil at such slavish devotion. I am more of the opinion that sooner or later a consensus will develop and the majority will follow.

Who knows if it will affect the turnout of one Party or the other? Who cares? And the beat goes on.

What is the best way to discuss this subject to get the desired result? The desired result is to get Donald Trump out of office as soon as possible because he is a threat to our country and our own way of life. We can even argue about whether he is a "threat"? Some may only consider him a "nuisance"?

I have strong thoughts about impeachment but I am trying to understand the other arguments against it. I do think it is dividing the Democratic Party and the leaders need to tread very carefully.

Is Mitch McConnell that stupid ??

He was quoted as saying he couldn't pass anything in the Senate, if he did not know whether or not the president would sign it?

No Mitch, that is not right.

You can pass whatever you want. If he vetoes it and sends it back to you, you only need 14 Democrats to over-ride his veto and it passes over his protestations. It would be nice to get him to agree but this is a law that the people need. It is more important than your relationship with Donald Trump.

What's the matter, Mitch?

Did you just forget? Or did you lose your backbone somewhere? You are supposed to be an independent branch of government - not there to serve Donald Trump or any other President.

Show some spine, Moscow Mitch!

Could Trump be impeached if he shot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue?

What if the Senate refused to convict ?

Would the Democrats still impeach?

Or would we have to wait until the next election for any justice?

Just a theoretical question.

Will Dorian pick up speed again once it clears the landmass of the Bahamas?

It is such a strong hurricane, it is really unpredictable.

Are the waters off the coast of Florida a little cooler than the area it has just traveled? if so, that may slow it down a bit?

This is a heckuva storm!

Republicans should be challenged on the impeachment issue.

In my opinion, they should be forced to defend Donald Trump and his illegal activities. If they cannot defend him, then he should be impeached.

I think the Democrats have been very weak at standing up for themselves. They have not done a very good job at representing the Congress as an equal branch of government, in my opinion. I do not say this simply to be critical of the Democratic Party. I say it because it is a fact.

At the present time, out of 235 Democrats in the House of Representatives, only 135 have come out in favor of an "impeachment inquiry". I guess the other 100 still need to see more "evidence"? The foreign emoluments alone are enough to impeach and, if the shoe were on the other foot, Republicans would have impeached already.

This "vote count" is a perfect example of the Democrats' weakness, in my opinion. They don't have to take a formal vote. They only have to state a position. 218 Democratic votes in favor of a formal impeachment inquiry would send a strong message to an outlaw Administration. Unless Democrats are willing to put up 218 votes to hold this White House accountable, they will continue to be disrespected and ignored.

If they were stronger, they would go on the record as supporting an impeachment inquiry. This would send a powerful signal to the White House and to the Republican Party. You do not have a free ticket to do whatever you want.

If they truly wanted to be strong, they would call for an actual impeachment vote. They should not have to question about whether they have enough votes in their own Party? It should be a given.

If they were truly strong, they would impeach and not worry about the election schedule. They would investigate and call witnesses so long as necessary, in order to get all the facts out to the American people.

Then they could choose whether or not to send the evidence to Mitch McConnell and the US Senate?

If they were truly, truly strong, they would send the evidence to the US Senate and let them choose where they stand? Let them defend their positions. Let them defend the criminal activities of Donald Trump. Democrats should be prepared to defend their positions with facts and the truth. They need to confront the problem head on.

If their position was strong enough, they should be able to persuade a majority to their side. They should be confident in their position. They should relish making it an issue in the next election. They should not run from it.

It should be an issue. And they know it. To follow the polls at this time is just another sign of weakness, camouflaged as political pragmatism.
