Will the Covid-19 ever go away?

The Flu epidemic of 1918 never disappeared. It is still with us in some form or other, 103 years later.

https://www.history.com/news/1918-flu-pandemic-never-ended

(snip)
An unthinkable 50 to 100 million people worldwide died from the 1918-1919 flu pandemic commonly known as the “Spanish Flu.” It was the deadliest global pandemic since the Black Death, and rare among flu viruses for striking down the young and healthy, often within days of exhibiting the first symptoms. In the United States, the 1918 flu pandemic lowered the average life expectancy by 12 years.

What’s even more remarkable about the 1918 flu, say infectious disease experts, is that it never really went away. After infecting an estimated 500 million people worldwide in 1918 and 1919 (a third of the global population), the H1N1 strain that caused the Spanish flu receded into the background and stuck around as the regular seasonal flu.

But every so often, direct descendants of the 1918 flu combined with bird flu or swine flu to create powerful new pandemic strains, which is exactly what happened in 1957, 1968 and 2009. Those later flu outbreaks, all created in part by the 1918 virus, claimed millions of additional lives, earning the 1918 flu the odious title of “the mother of all pandemics.”

A message many of us are not ready to accept:

“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.” — Jesus Christ in Matthew 12:25

A nation divided against itself cannot stand. We are a divided nation.

Unless we can find a way to come together, I fear for our survival as a nation. I do not say this out of despair or any sort of revenge. I say it because I see it and I feel it. It is the truth that will set us free.

Right now, our best hope to survive this crisis is in the hands of Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. They must try very hard to persuade their fellow Republicans to not fear the truth. It will save them in the long run. If they continue to cling to the deception and the Big Lie, it will destroy them. Unfortunately, it will likely destroy the rest of the nation also.

We have to find a way to work with any Republicans that are willing to work with us to find the truth and to escape the delusion of the Big Lie and to stop the cover up. We have to try harder. It is more important than any political Party or position of power.

Until we find the strength to do this, we will remain a divided nation.

If we are a democracy...

...we believe in majority rule.

If we believe in majority rule, we believe in the right of every citizen to vote.

If we believe in the right of every citizen to vote, then we cannot support restrictions on that right.

If we believe in a democracy, then we cannot support a "super majority" or the "filibuster" rule. They are antithetical to a democracy.

If we are to save our democracy, then we must adhere to the rules of a democracy and get rid of the "filibuster" and the super majorities that only benefit those that are anti-democracy.

About all those "hostages" in Afghanistan.

This is not to minimize anyone that is held against their will.

The Taliban will not let the planes take off that have "American citizens" on board, we are told.
(We do not know how many of these folks are "dual citizens" that chose to stay with their families when they had a chance to get out of their country. They were all contacted by the State Dept, we were told.)

But, back to the "hostages".

When Donald Trump was withdrawing all the American troops, he and Steven Miller decided against bringing any Afghans out of the country at all. They were not keen on the idea of "evacuation".

If Trump had actually won his last election, we would not have "about a hundred" hostages still in the country, we would have over one-hundred thousand. Chew on that for a second.

Justice delayed is justice denied?

Given enough time, people can forget about everything. People have forgotten there were civilizations buried under the sands of the Sahara.

Run out the clock. People will forget or their memories will become foggy. They will forget the seriousness of crimes committed if given enough time.

Those that attacked our Capitol and those that incited them to do so committed a very serious crime.

But, will time diminish the traitorous act?

With enough time, will people put it in the back of their minds and someday forget that it happened at all?

That is the problem with "justice delayed is justice denied". There may be no justice at all?

The sharks smell blood.

That is why Texas citizens took their abortion issue to the Supreme Court. That is why the Court refused to interfere. They smell the blood of liberals.

Just as McCarthy and his Republican accomplices in the House believe they are not answerable to the law. Just as the Cult members of Trump still believe he is going to be back in the White House. They are not giving up. They are doubling down.

They do not believe the Democrats will do anything to deter them. They are too busy being liberals. They believe in good government and the rule of law. Republicans are concerned with neither.

They are lying about Afghanistan. They are lying about Joe Biden. They will lie about whatever they think benefits them.

They are in too deep to turn back now. They are fighting for their lives. They are desperate and will do whatever they can get away with.

Farewell Angelina

September 5, 2021

What fresh hell might we see this week?

Is this the week we will see some revelations from the Select Committee witnesses?

Will all Republicans refuse to testify?

Will we see some more guilty pleas from the insurrectionists?

Is this the week for a bombshell?

Do you feel something coming over the horizon?
