Welcome to DU, DCPSR!

Glad you're here! Also, Terry McAuliffe is pulling away from ken cuccinelli in Virginia. His lead is widening. AND we nailed down the New Jersey Senate seat last night, too. Might just be a trend developing here, although I do hope I'm not speaking too soon. Let's drain the swamp next November!!!

And keep paying...

Yeah, I saw that.

So I posted on his PoliticsNation FB page! https://www.facebook.com/PoliticsNation

I said - Alan Grayson was just on. He said the teabaggers were as popular as the Klan. I thought the teabaggers WERE the Klan.

I am "harmed" by "Obamacare"! WHOA NELLY am I "harmed"!

My son and my husband both have pre-existing conditions. The GOP's precious fucking "free market" kept them securely UNINSURED - until the Affordable Care Act came about. And whether or not our son has a pre-existing condition, we can still keep him covered under our policy til he's 26!

My son's band has a really terrific drummer. He's utterly and quite literally adorable! He's also a childhood cancer survivor. He and his family have been "harmed" by the Affordable Care Act's doing away with that damn pre-existing condition crap, AND allows his parents to keep him covered on their policy for another three years - til he can get on his feet and afford his own coverage (which will be substantially more affordable now, too)! "Harmed" big-time, 'eh?

If that's what being "harmed" is, then call me a masochist and give me MORE!

Good try!!!

I'm glad the person on the phone was at least polite to you, if not ultimately dismissive.

This schmuck needs to hear from MORE people like you! He needs the constant reminder that this fictitious "The American People" he supposedly listens to and speaks for - really doesn't exist, especially in the great numbers he claims are there.

WONDERFUL!!!!

Thanks for posting this, Will! It's a breath of fresh air!

Yep. We all see whose side they're on.

Reminds me of a GREAT lesson I learned in sparring class. I had to endure sparring as part of the black belt program at the local karate school. Sparring: my least favorite part of the course of instruction. I was absolutely BONKERS for the forms classes though. But sparring was something I dreaded. HOWEVER, I learned SO much, metaphorically-speaking, from the sparring part.

I went to a different adult class one night than the one I usually attended. I was paired up with a different partner than I'd ever sparred with, before. He was younger, very fit, strong, aggressive, with lots of style, and one of the better ones in both forms and sparring, as I observed. And he was nice, too. but he was tricky. We got into it and I had always been taught - "stay focused! Do NOT get distracted. Keep your eyes on your opponent but don't let the opponent distract you." There was this one point where I became aware, out of the corner of my eye, that he was trying a ploy to distract me. He stretched out one arm, all the way to the side, and was wiggling his fingers rather wildly (we were using mitts that were open on the underside, so they didn't encase the entire hand or fist in a boxing glove). I guessed that he was trying to divert my eyes and then attempt to come around the other side when I was looking over at the wiggling fingers, and cold-cock me with his other hand. I hunkered down and focused on the middle of his chest and ignored the wiggling fingers and kept jabbing. I noticed something instructive after that. He only tried that ploy once, discovering it didn't work. And I stayed in the fight. He wasn't able to distract me or take my eyes off my focus. And I got a few good ones in. I think it was even by the end. All I remember, really, is that I held up pretty well throughout.

That lesson really stayed with me. I think about it a lot even lo these many years later. And I see that a bunch of those lessons from sparring class - especially THAT one - still apply really well to situations involving political combat.

Oh yes. There is that, too. And let's never forget that, either.

Does make you want to take the next step - "so if he lies about this, what ELSE is he lying about????"

YEP! He lied about it. But then again, can we expect any less from these assholes?

True enough, llmart! And as far as I recall, michele bachmann was NOT one of those women

in that gang-of-eight, or gang-of-six, or whatever. Heidi Heitkamp was. Susan Collins was. Debbie was. Patty Murray was. Kelly Ayotte was. Trying to think of the others. michele bachmann couldn't even begin to hold their hand towels in the ladies' room. And as for palin - she gets no mention because she's not in Congress or the Senate despite her presumptions of being Goddess of them all. She's not even worthy of applying for a job as a ladies' room attendant. The very idea is an affront to all the women who work jobs like that, and do a probably emotionally-difficult and not-much-respected job like that with a hell of a lot of dignity. michele bachmann and sarah palin are not worthy even to empty their wastebaskets.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
