Fuckin' A.

June 16, 2012

I am a PROUD Feminist AND Liberal AND Democrat. I am proud and pleased to be labeled as such.

And yes, there IS indeed a war on women. And I will NOT go back. And I will NOT accept the second-class-citizen status that so many of my countryMEN wish to impose upon me. And I will NOT stand for it being imposed upon my daughter, either. On this, at least for me, there is no middle ground. This is a non-negotiable. So, on this issue, at least for me, it becomes rather difficult to be a centrist.

And, hey Recursion, please come and join us on the left. The water's fine, the minds are open, and there's always room for at least one more! Besides, we have more fun, too!

It's an utter disgrace! A DISGRACE! And in my opinion it's NO coincidence whatsoever.

All roads lead to racism in this regard. I'm ashamed by this behavior. TOTALLY ashamed.

I think that's how the teabaggers got started. Everybody kinda swallowed their deeply inbred revulsion to and resentment of African Americans when Obama got elected. I suspect many of them thought - oh, okay, fine, whatever. OR they figured it was just a bad dream and somehow they were going to wake up and see that it wasn't true.

And then time passed, and the problem wouldn't go away. And they just couldn't ignore the fact that our President is dark-skinned. And I think that when reality started to sink in - that OH-SHIT-it's-TRUE!-We-really-are-stuck-with-this-black-guy-in-OUR-White-House - they all reached a critical mass point in their hatred and just couldn't suppress it anymore or pretend it didn't exist.

And I think there were some people who thought they could swallow their racism or that they could get over it, and then when this "nightmare" did not end, they went over the edge. I think this segment of the population came to a collective realization that "no, it's really NOT okay with me, after all, to have a black guy in the White House - who isn't the janitor." And then they did something about it.

I CANNOT see the teabagger movement as being about anything BUT racism. I think all this "don't tread on me" crap is just a cover. I've always felt that. I believe racism fuels their every move.

"And we sure can't resort to name-calling..."

BULLSHIT!!!!!!

FUCK 'EM if they can't take a joke.

If that's what they ARE, then that's what they deserve to be called.

If they don't like it, TOUGH SHIT. They sure call us all kinds of names whenever they feel like it.

Taste of their own medicine. See how they like it. That's the only way to beat a bully. Bully them BACK!!!!!!!

There are many other stylists who might be deserving of your consideration, and they need the

money too.

Might be instructive to her if you either stop showing up and patronizing her business altogether, or go in there only to get your nails done and not your hair.

I've always felt that there should be consequences for bad behavior.

Like during Watergate when we learned the "don't buy books by crooks" slogan. Because so many of the Watergate felons hit the book deal thing hard and profited handsomely by it. I resolved NEVER to buy anything of theirs.

They sure did whined and bellyached when they thought THEIR guy wasn't being worshipped sufficiently

Assholes.

If, Heaven forbid, romney wins, I hope our Dems obstruct him as much as the CONS obstructed our President.

YES I realize nothing much will get done, but I think we have to start hitting them back - in kind. Answer their bullying by bullying them BACK.

Taste of their own medicine. See how they like it. And we will be doing the work of the country by preventing the CONs' agenda from being advanced.

I didn't like it.

But I'm one of those who doesn't enjoy seeing gruesome gooey slimy snakey aliens popping out of people or burrowing into people.

I like movies where I don't feel compelled to close my eyes while the movie's playing.

I know. Just weird and out of it.

I didn't like "Alien" either. Just not my kind of film. After it was over, I turned to my male friends and said "next time we do this, it better be a chick flick."

And at ours as well!

I remember reading an Aaron Sorkin piece during Campaign 2008 in which he imagined that candidate Barack Obama went to visit former President Jed Bartlet at his New Hampshire farm. Bartlet took him to task for not being tougher on his opponents, and, in particular, denounced the dumbing-down of America and how many voters seem to gravitate toward candidates who are stupid and ill-informed, while we cut funding to schools, lay off teachers, and seek mainly to "teach to the test." And Bartlet advised Obama to stare 'em down and challenge the entire metastasizing sickness of aiming low and racing to the bottom - straight in the face. Put it to these people: "just what is it with you people - what do you have against excellence?"

GREAT question. Still not answered.

Actually, some of that sounds rather good. Why aren't WE doing that?

Stuff like the DC Fly-In & Activist Training Boot Camp. I realize we have the Netroots gathering, but are we actively pushing any sort of training boot camp? Is ANYONE on our side, anywhere, pushing activist training meetings or teach-ins or any of those? They're getting their activists fired up. Are we?

I find myself envious of the organization they've put together. It seems to be rather effective. WE NEED THAT STUFF TOO!!!!!!

I just keep wondering where OUR version of this is. Where's OUR version of kkkarl rove? Where are OUR devious thinkers? Where's OUR version of the College republi-CONS - who do the dirty tricks and get away with them and don't just beat the opposition but SCREW them into the dirt?

YES. I said dirty tricks. YES. I said kkkarl rove. YES. I said devious thinkers. That's what we need. Because unfortunately, THAT is how the game is played now. And if we don't do it straight back to them and butt-fuck them and kick the snot out of them, they'll keep coming back stronger and stronger and more and more effective.

And don't start in with me that "oh but, but, but, we CAN'T go there! That makes us no better than them! That makes us just like them!" I actually WANT to be like them. Because they're feared, and they own practically every aspect of the prosecution of this kind of warfare., and because they win. They don't play by the rules. They don't even recognize rules. And as long as we do, we're chumps. And we're gonna get rolled. Again and again and again.

And you don't govern if you don't win. You don't set the agenda if you don't win. You don't even get to determine how long Congress actually shows its sorry collective ass up to work if you don't win.

This is politics. Not a church social (which, I realize, can get pretty nasty and political). Not a day at the beach (where many of us don't even go anymore because of all the toxins in the water and sand). It's the shitty, nasty, icky, filthy, ruthless, bloodthirsty, immoral, and amoral world of politics. And if you try to play it clean and kind, you just get rolled. Everyone says they hate negative ads - but dammit, they WORK! They get RESULTS!!! And if we don't get results, we're screwed, and even worse - our whole country is screwed.

And I hate what I just wrote. It frankly kinda disgusts me. I apologize with all my heart. It makes me cringe even realizing I'm feeling compelled to think this way. But that's the reality - much as most of us here would like it NOT to be. That's how it is. We talk about a level playing field all the time here. And as long as we play nice, we absolutely guarantee it won't be a level playing field. I want to know where the scale is that WE can press OUR collective thumb down upon, to be "fair and balanced" to OUR side.

June 11, 2012

That was just about the only thing that got us through the bush2 years.

The idea that - SOMEWHERE, SOMEHOW, there was at least the thought of a proud liberal President and staff - that was for the most part pretty effective with the media. Even if it was only in fantasy and fiction. At least that idea was still embraced - SOMEWHERE that counted.

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years.
