Lol

Sometimes such an addition in personnel is intended to be a distraction.

Especially in cases like this. Fawn Hall comes to mind. Once they got a glimpse of her, that was it. Oliver North had a very attractive young secretary who drew all kinds of eyeballs AND press attention once she attended his testimony day during the Iran/Contra investigation. She had to testify, herself, about shredding a boatload of documents (so many that the machine broke down). Her notoriety took her all the way to Hollywood but never really paid off.

But for awhile back then, she definitely was “A Thing”. I was in Washington DC immediately after that whole mess. People in Dupont Circle were selling t-shirts that featured a crayon drawing of a blonde female stick figure leaning toward a machine and the line “See Fawn Shred. Shred Fawn, Shred.” I couldn’t resist - I bought one.

PR-wise it took some of the heat off Ollie North because she was the talk of the town. John Dean’s eye-catching wife caused a somewhat similar sensation during Watergate. A buzz started about the attractive blonde woman with her hair in a tight bun, seated immediately behind him in the hearing room while he testified. She was his wife, Maureen Dean. That was a bit of a diversion, too, as I recall.

Nah, just digging for dirt. Wondering if he secretly had a girlfriend or something.

After all, even the most outwardly upstanding and straight-laced of men has been known to cheat on his wife. I DID, however, love that red off-the-shoulder gown she wore to some event (again just a few steps away from Kavanaugh). Stunning!

On edit - one more wee thing: I’m 65 years old. She looks like a girl to me.

I mainly wondered who this woman was - who always seemed to be near him. Appearance after appearance, video clip after video clip, there she is again - wtf? And I never saw her identified anywhere. My first instinct was “girlfriend?”

Thanks for the info, folks! DU comes through - again!

Yes. Indeed. Yet the GOP Still Supports him.

What it says to me, dlk, is nothing good. NOTHING good.

Okay. So who's the girl? The one with the long dark straight hair, again sitting behind Kavanaugh

wearing the neck chain with the crucifix hanging from it. It's easy to see - she's wearing a black top.

WHO IS SHE? She's not the wife. She's not one of the daughters. I just wonder who this fetching young woman is - who seems to be appearing with Kavanaugh on numerous occasions. Tall and slim - she was in that seat directly behind him a couple of days ago, fiddling with the crucifix pendant on her neck chain, and her long hair in that "come hither" style wherein it's all brushed over one shoulder, leaving the opposite shoulder and neck bare. She was also with Kavanaugh recently in a more formalized setting wearing quite an eye-catching red off-the-shoulder gown that was very fitted, showing off her trim figure. WHO'S the girl? Why is she there? As I just glanced up now (11:26am MT, so says the time clock at the lower right corner of the screen) was fiddling with her hair and touching her neck. Olive complexion and very pretty, with long smooth dark hair that always seems to be arranged in an alluring manner - in the several times I've seen her.

WHO is she? And why is she there? WHO is she to Brett Kavanaugh?

Anybody know?

Nor will there be any good footage of you showing your defiance and your guts

for local news coverage, or flattering campaign commercials for the folks back home.

He had enough time at least to acknowledge Guttenberg.

He ALSO had enough time to ask the security person to pause for a moment so he could at least reach out a hand and be polite. Fred Guttenberg was trying to talk to him at the time. Presumably trying to introduce himself and his reason for being there. Kavanaugh stood there, staring straight at him, for enough of a moment that he could have just been briefly polite, with "nice to meet you. They're telling me I gotta go, sorry..." Talk about elitist.

Nope. NEVER cede an inch - no, a millimeter. No, even better: a MICRON!

If the Dems walked out, it would leave the rest of us with NO representation in the room, whatsoever. And the bad guys would just go ahead and run it single-mindedly.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
