It sobered up a few people. Not everybody, but a few - who might have not cared that much and assumed it would never happen to them and otherwise would have gone out and behaved like reckless assholes behind the wheel. Kids facing a DUI conviction often have to go to the county morgue to view bodies of victims of drunk drivers. That's some pretty tough love, but sometimes it's needed.
