About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

Love this, samplegirl!

GREAT post. DO NOT let your momentary discontent keep you home on Election Day, or mouthing off in front of impressionable ears who will most certainly get the wrong take-away from it.

I don't care how many holes people punch in what Obama's doing or has done. At his worst, he's LIGHTYEARS better than the best republi-CON.

I'll take a shitty Democrat, yeah, even a dreaded Blue Dog, over the "best" republi-CON. Because the GOPer will take away my right to choose (and my daughter's), take away many minorities' right to vote (and I guarantee you - if they get away with that, they will come after women, next), and give aid and comfort to polluters and pirates over the little guy. AND all their little PNAC friends will ride into their Defense Dept and their National Security Adviser's offices and the Situation Room, and john mccain will get those five wars - AND MORE - that he was slobbering over during his last convention speech promoting myth wrongney.

Yes and no, but I also realize it's necessary, and they do need the resources.

And if I just assume "oh, everything will be alright" or "meh, they're all the same," or "meh, they're all in the trough for the corporations," or whatever the fuck-ass worthless apathetic excuse is, then that opens the door for the bad guys to come rampaging through, and further undo/fuck-up/roll back everything we - and I myself personally - have worked to accomplish to move our country forward and help those in the most need - for the common good.

So yeah, I'm beseiged. And they're all begging. And I have to pick and choose. Much as I'd like to be able to be Lady Bountiful to them all, I can't. But I CAN give to some, and I CAN make a difference, and I CAN look in the mirror at the end of the day and know I cared enough to get up off my ass and do something to help.

So I do.

We tend to unearth enough dog hair to build a whole 'nuther dog!

'Nuther round of greatness, SCE!

Nor mine!

I learned during the Watergate era - don't buy books by crooks. Extrapolate that out a little and you come to the buying-green philosophy - support only responsible companies and retailers with your purchasing power. Buy local. Support the mom & pop stores in your neighborhood - the same ones that tend to get bulldozed by the big monsters. So I will NOT patronize an outfit like Walmart - that nickels 'n' dimes its employees while raking in obscene profits, serves its customers extremely poorly by offering almost NO help on the floor if you're unable to find something you're looking for, or you have questions, and undercuts all competition thus driving it out of business.

I knew someone on there, as well.

Shoving it back in his face, down his throat, and up his damn ass.

I apologize to all Texas DUers but I find myself asking repeatedly - what the hell is WRONG with people in states like Texas? WHY ON EARTH do they want to vote for assholes like him? WHY do they like dingdongs like louie gohmert? WHY are they enamored of people like tom delay? WHY do they shove dumb-fuck schmucks like duhbya and rick "oops" perry on the rest of us? WHY? What is the matter with Texas voters? WHY are they now in love with george p. bush? BEWARE, he's gonna make his move one of these days. VERY worrisome, that one.

That is STUNNING.

Kick!!!

"Pro-life" My ASS.

LOVE this!

I'm certain he didn't expect to get the kind of feedback that came pouring in. TONS of it. And all the MANY "YES to the ACA" posts got massive numbers of likes as well.

Take THAT, you arrogant egotistical antisocial self-flattering schmuck!

THIS^^^^^

The more republi-CONS we get get rid of at the national AND state level, the more Americans will be spared from falling through the cracks.

Yeah, they call it "The Patriot." PUKE!!!!

Repulsive. More like "The Putriot" if you ask me. I used to listen every day, every time I was driving. Stephanie Miller, Bill Press overnights (if I was ever up that early), Thom Hartmann until he changed timeslots, and Randi the Righteous Rhodes! LOVED her show every afternoon. Nicole Sandler would fill in for her and I love Nicole! Met her and really enjoyed our talks. She interviewed me on one of her shows. She's a terrific lady, so well-informed and so warm-hearted.

I MISS that station SO much! This is the second-biggest city in the country, the second-biggest radio market in the country, and there is NO progressive radio, NO progressive talk. NONE. Not even KPFK is listenable anymore. That station's a mess. The only consolation for the loss of KTLK is - it had such a shitty signal you couldn't hear it in most parts of town. So the Gas Giant and his friends were moved from clear-channel 50,000 watt powerhouse KFI to this little rinky-dink piss-ant station with no coverage, no signal strength, and no ratings. And they'd pre-empt the regular programming for the most useless shit, all the damn time, for a special on hangnails and old potato salad. I remember the night of the California primary. A Tuesday night. It was the night Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were having a big showdown, HUGE news all over the country, and what did that station decide to air? A fucking HOCKEY game. It wasn't even some NFL playoff or some such, and who cares, really? I don't even remember. But I was just aghast. BIG NEWS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY and it wasn't as though this couldn't have been anticipated. The California Primary's date was set AGES beforehand. They couldn't even bring themselves to tape-delay the damn thing. The broadcast contract with the NFL, I guess, meant they were airing a fucking hockey game, in Los Angeles, on the night of the California Primary. UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE.

And to add insult to injury, these days, not only are they shoving limbaugh at us on that station, they've got that-guy-whose-name-rhymes-with-Vanity on there, too. Yanked him off KABC Talkradio, a weak competitor to KFI, and loaded him and a whole bunch of other CON bozos on what used to be KTLK. I don't know what the call letters even are, now - if they changed or what. I don't care. And I certainly don't listen.

Most of 'em didn't take delivery on it.

So I told them if I ever had to take them in and put them up in our spare bedroom, they'd discover my welcome present would be having Pox Noise removed from my cable package.

The best I've ever done is illicit the pansy-ass retort "well… I don't know…"

Which is usually what they say when they have nothing else to say or can't rebut my argument or don't feel like arguing any longer. Because they've tired of me, or the argument, or both, I guess. So then I simply smile and chuckle and say "well, THAT'S certainly true!"
