New patients today. A refugee family from Afghanistan. All of them suffering from anxiety and PTSD. The mother and father have four children but only got three of them out. Their daughter is still there.
Their son was beaten mercilessly by the Taliban. I saw the scars.
That’s all I can talk about right now…

Yesterday, a patient asked me the stupidest question I think I've ever heard.
"How do I get rid of these nicotine stains on my fingers and teeth?"
It took everything I had not to 
"Simple. Quit smoking."
It was pretty much the embodiment of the joke I've been telling for years:
"Doc, I'll do anything to get healthy!"
"Okay. Quit smoking."
"......Okay, I'll do anything but that!......"
Had to lock the clinic down. Crazy guy with a hatchet out there.
At least it's not a gun...
