There are people in this troubled world who lack food, must drink foul opaque water, and constantly

struggle to stay warm as winter descends on their refugee camp tent and covid spreads unchecked.

I wonder what they would think of people who whine about being required to wear a mask to enter a restaurant or to get their mani-pedi?

It is sad to have to take part in this death watch for the United States Supreme Court.

In about six months, the half dozen Republican-appointed Justices of that once-respected and admired court will do what they were appointed to do: overrule ROE vs WADE and once again allow primarily old white men control the bodies of primarily young women of all colors.

Oh, to be sure, there will be all sorts of explanations for why they were "compelled" to flush the concepts of precedent and stare decisis down into the sewer of conservative hypocrisy, but it will boil down to this: they were bought and paid for---some recently, some decades ago---and they simply did what they were paid to do.

No reasonable person of conscience will truly respect the SCOTUS after the banner of ROE is slashed down by this disgusting panel of disingenuous right-wing operatives. And, no one can say just exactly what the effect will be when the shroud slips off of the "For Sale" sign outside the Supreme Court building, but the Judiciary Branch IS one of the three branches upon which our government rests.

And, we know what happens when one leg of a three-legged stool breaks.

A word or two for the "occasionally interested in politics" folks:

You DO understand that it is your DUTY as an American citizen to vote next November, right? Our predecessors fought and died to obtain and exercise the right to vote for those who will govern us. "Whatever" is no longer an option for anyone when it comes to politics.

And, no, damn it, political candidates are NOT "all alike"! That is just the simplistic and childish nonsense used by lazy people excuse their apathy. There are MANY differences between the parties and the candidates and I am sure most of you would easily see who the "good guys" are if you spent a few hours reading readily available sources on the internet. BUT, ----- I'm going to save you those few hours and make it VERY easy for you.

IF you use you vote to help elect DEMOCRATS to Congress next fall you will not just be making a statement; you'll be making several:

---Hell, no! I do not want to elect someone who STILL---after losing 60+ lawsuits and countless recounts and "audits"---is working to overturn the 2020 election;

---Hell, yes! I support and believe in Democracy!

---Hell, yes! I want the Select Committee to track down every traitor who helped plan, organize, fund and INCITE the violent insurrection last January;

---Hell, no! I don't want anyone in Congress who says those who were in the January 6th mob were "just tourists";

---Hell, yes! I want a Congress that will pass voting rights legislation and the many provisions of the Build Back Better bill that will benefit ORDINARY PEOPLE, not just billionaires;

---Hell, no! I do not want anyone in Congress who had to kiss Trump's ----"ring" to win their primary!

There are many more reasons to vote straight Democratic next November, but just remember this: if you cast your precious vote for a Republican, you're voting in favor of the "flip side" of everything listed above.

You're welcome.
