Atticus
Atticus's JournalI was aware that Sarah Palin publicized the use of "word salad" in responding to questions, but
I did not know that it was contagious.
Blathering unrelated words strung together for no discernible reason; starting numerous sentences in succession without ever finishing one; or, simply muttering "uh" , "I don't remember" or "I'll have to check on that" all accomplish the goal of making earnest noises while actually saying nothing. Ms. Taylor-Greene, Mr Jordan and other Republicans are regular practitioners of this art of obfuscation, but none can hold a candle to the rhetorical cul-de-sacs the twice-impeached one term former White House occupant wanders into while pretending he wears Big Boy pants.
I think we should be seeing more GOP Senators and Representatives, when given TV face time, asked to explain what they think his latest stringing together of "good words" might mean. Let's have them listen to his mouth noises as he himself made them and then ask them to please explain what they just heard.
Of course, being Republicans, they're likely to leave us still scratching our heads after they've started a sentence about the "woke" Democrats, switched to a mention of how terrible " cancel culture" is and then just sorta faded out mumbling something about "Soros" and "Hunter's laptop" without even trying to 'splain Trump's gobbledygook.
To the football coaches praying at midfield, the political lampreys laying hands on heavily
made-up moral pygmies and TV screamers "speaking in tongues", consider what your instruction book says:
"When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men
but when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen.
You'll find that in Matthew, if memory serves.
I understand that Mr. Bannon cut himself so badly shaving this morning that his
eyes nearly cleared up.
Does it disgust anyone else that every time the media accidentally stumbles over
some really nasty crap that implicates members of the Trump regime in criminality, all that's necessary to distract them is to yell "SQUIRREL!" and the "journalists" go galumphing off into the boonies to find it?
Why should DeSantis stop with just creating a special new police force to combat
"election crimes"?
There are an equal number of apartment dwellers who keep elephants as house pets and that's surely some kind of crime, am I right?
And, a special police force to investigate the sale of manatee meat would OP have more to do than the crew being hired to investigate "election crimes".
How about all of those idiots driving ocean liners right---down---the middle---of the carpool lane during rush hour? I say we DEMAND a special police force for them! They're a lot more common than "election crimes"!
I have never had a Twitter account, but I have clicked on and read numerous tweets.
That stops now.
If I unknowingly access a tweet, I will move on as soon as I realize it is Twitter.
I am sure the attitude of many is "So what?" I simply want to make it clear that I hope the little blue bird meets a hungry cat named "backlash".
Since Marjorie Taylor-Greene's answer to any question seems to be "I don't remember", here are
some I'd like to ask.
Who is the father of your first child? The second? The third?
How many times have you committed adultery?
How many times have you been treated for STDs?
How many branches in the US government?
Are you right or left-handed?
The US Supreme Court has how many members?
What is your natural hair color?
We can do "smash-mouth" politics, too.
We no longer ask Republicans this question because we know the answer all too well.
"Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
I think most of us, including me, often make the mistake of thinking that "the way things are" is
the way things have been and will be. We know better, to be sure but, nonetheless, we act as though we did not.
The "permanent" fixtures in our lives---people, good and bad---jobs---ice shelves---trees---landmark buildings---eventually, if we live long enough, will pass away; cease to exist except in memory. Some of the passings are welcome; some bring pain and grief. But, while we cannot know WHEN these losses will come, we know they WILL come and also that one day WE will be someone else's loss.
I think it might be helpful if we could think of life as a movie, not a snapshot; a river, not a pond. Neither permits us to stand still for long.
As I contemplate the moon, "Nights In White Satin" is resurrected:
"Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is gray and yellow white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion"
It's that kind of night.
