Another successful flight 👏
#MarsHelicopter completed its 7th flight and second within its operations demo phase. It flew for 62.8 seconds and traveled ~106 meters south to a new landing spot. Ingenuity also took this black-and-white navigation photo during flight.

NEW: Another Proud Boy charged in connection with the Capitol attack.

Shawn Price, a 26-year-old from New Jersey, was arrested today.

“I led the storm!”

"Price was on the lower west terrace helping to push other individuals forward into a line of law enforcement officers while the officers resisted and deployed a chemical irritant in an apparent attempt to disperse the crowd.”

Shawn Price affidavit posted here. More to come on this one. https://justice.gov/usao-dc/case-multi-defendant/file/1402491/download

"The invidual is wearing a dark baseball type hat with 'KEEP AMERICA GREAT' in bright orange letters on the hat. The individual was also wearing a dark coat with a Burberry print around the hood of the coat.”

Capitol defendant Christian Kulas was arrested in Chicago today.

Kulas was publicly IDed about a week after the attack.

Kulas falls into the “MAGA tourist” category, facing relatively minor charges at the moment. His mom apparently helped lock down the ID

Former classmates and social media acquaintances have really maintained their position as one of the FBI’s most valuable resources in the Capitol attack manhunt. https://huffpost.com/entry/facebook-friends-frenemies-capitol-attack-trump-fbi_n_6010667ec5b6a0814272448a

"CW-2 attended middle school and high school with KULAS... and was highly confident that the individual depicted in the videos wearing the Burberry coat was KULAS.”

Judge granted a delay in hearing for Damon Beckley, who provided his full name to @FordFischer and said that Mike Pence had blood on his hands as people around him chanted “hang Mike Pence.” Formal plea offer expected.

Beckley ran an organization called DC Under Siege, which protested outside Mitch McConnell’s home a few days before the Capitol attack. Here’s his full interview with @FordFischer:

Dillon Herrington of Alabama, aka #MAGAlumberjack, was actually detained by D.C. police on Jan. 6. He had a knife in his pocket. But they were so overwhelmed that they let him go, and let him keep the knife.

Herrington, who the feds say is 29, appears to have been turned in by someone he’s known for 17 years. They’re in law enforcement now. https://justice.gov/usao-dc/case-multi-defendant/file/1402556/download

Deep dive: On what we know so far about how much (or how little) prison time alleged Capitol rioters are facing https://buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetillman/capitol-insurrection-jail-time-jan-6-cases

Predicting outcomes is tricky early on, but there are few general truths:
- The vast majority of defendants plead guilty
- Maximum penalties provide context, but rarely reflect actual sentences, and that's already shaping up to be true in the Jan. 6 cases

Zoe Tillman
@ZoeTillman
What do we know:
- 200+ misdemeanor-only cases so far, max sentences between 6 mos-1 yr. Expect defendants who plead guilty and have minimal criminal history to get far less than the max, good chance some will argue for no prison time, unclear how judges will respond to that

- Remaining 250+ face at least one felony, most common is obstructing an official proceeding. Paul Hodgkins' guilty plea establishes a baseline advisory range of 15-21 mos for obstruction and nothing else more serious (he could also argue for a below-guidelines sentence)

Zoe Tillman
@ZoeTillman
- Jon Schaffer's guilty plea establishes an average baseline range of 41-51 months for defendants who plead to obstruction + something else (in his case, entering the Capitol with a weapon). He's poised to get credit for cooperation, which could lower it further

Adults will be able to claim a free marijuana joint when they receive a Covid-19 vaccine in Washington State. The promotion, called “Joints for Jabs,” is part of the state’s push to increase vaccinations.
