brooklynite's JournalAirplane Mode is a real-time flight simulator--but you're not the pilot
PC GamerFor Hosni Auji, the developer behind upcoming flight simulation game Airplane Mode, the gruelling realism of Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise was apparently not mundane enough. There's a chance something exciting might happen if you're a pilot, so Airplane Mode looks instead to the unsung heroes of aviation: passengers stuck in economy for six hours.
Billing itself as "the only flight simulation game where players can experience the intense excitement of being an economy class passenger on a long-haul flight", Airplane Mode takes ultra-realism to the next level, giving us the chance to experience air travel as we've always known it: in an uncomfortable seat (next to a window, if you're lucky), and of course, in real time.
In addition to the previously announced six hour modewhich will see the player experience a simulated flight from New York's JFK Airport to Reykjavik, IcelandAuji has recently revealed a shorter mode, where the destination out of JFK is the relatively nearby Canadian city of Halifax, Nova Scotia: a mere two-and-a-half hours away.
Players will be spoiled for choice as to how to pass this time: with full access to the contents of your hand luggage (including a book and a mobile phonethe latter, hopefully, in airplane mode) and the possibilities of the in-flight magazine and seat-back entertainment system to explore, those few hours are bound to just fly by. Randomised events like turbulence, crying babies, landing delays, and many more of the mundane thrills of airline travel will occur now and again to add a little mystique to your simulated journey.
White House spokesperson to speak at Republican convention: report
Source: The Hil
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany will reportedly speak at the Republican National Convention Wednesday night, joining a growing number of Trump administration officials appearing at the GOP gathering.
Fox News reported Wednesday that McEnany will speak about the president's support for her as a working mother, and will not address Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden directly in her remarks. Though Fox News cited an unidentified senior White House official, McEnany retweeted the article from her personal Twitter account.
Other administration officials including White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have already spoken at the convention, sparking criticism that their participation violates the Hatch Act, which bars top administration aides from participating in campaign activities in their official capacities. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
Pompeo's appearance came remotely from Jerusalem, drawing further criticism that the secretary of State was spending time during official travel for a campaign event

Protesters target D.C. diners, triggering backlash after heckling woman
Source: Washington Post
A demonstration that began Monday evening in the District to protest the shooting of a Black man in Wisconsin wound its way through two of the citys entertainment districts, targeting diners in a tactic that has triggered backlash online.
The crowd of protesters confronted a woman seated at a table outside a restaurant on 18th Street NW in Adams Morgan and demanded that she raise her fist in a show of solidarity.
...snip...
But the woman, Lauren B. Victor, refused, even after her dining companion complied.
I felt like I was under attack, Victor, 49, an urban planner and photographer who lives in the District, said in an interview afterward.

As a tactic this is beyond stupid. It scares off potential allies and gives opponents fuels to claim protests are "out of control", all in the name of meaningless symbolism.
I think Trump and the Republicans WANT us to complain about Hatch Act violations...
1) It's an "inside the beltway" issue that voters don't care about
2) It distracts us from talking about issues voters DO care about (economy, COVID,etc.) where Trump is vulnerable
3) Bringing up corruption lets them rehash their Hunter Biden "scandals" to keep the base revved up and sell a "both sides do it" message to middle of the road voters.
If you're worried that Republican officials will ignore election results and appoint Trump electors
...consider why they're not making it easy for kanye west to get on the ballot?

Alaska attorney general resigns after disclosure of text messages
Source: Anchorage Daily News
Alaska Attorney General Kevin G. Clarkson resigned Tuesday following the publication of an Anchorage Daily News and ProPublica investigation showing he sent hundreds of uncomfortable texts to a younger state employee.
Records obtained by the newsrooms found Clarkson sent 558 text messages between March 5 and March 31 to a woman whose job required she sometimes interact with the attorney general. In at least 18 messages he invited the woman to come to his home.
Gov. Mike Dunleavy said in an email Tuesday morning he had accepted Clarksons resignation.
This administration has and always will expect the highest level of professional conduct in the workplace, a statement from Dunleavy said. There is nothing more important than the protection of our state employees, and that includes feeling safe when an employee is at worK.

Will Abby Johnson's "brown son" watch her Convention speech tonight?
Or is she afraid hell steal the TV set?
One of the Republican National Conventions top speakers said in a recent video that it would be smart for a police officer to racially profile her biracial son, because statistically, my brown son is more likely to commit a violent offense over my white sons.
