Question for Bernie Sanders supporters: what did tonight's debate achieve?

Did it change voters' minds?

Did it force Biden to push his policies to the left?

Did it rally progressive voters to support the Democratic nominee in the General Election?

Biden-Sanders debate Official Thread- 1

Biden and Sanders are already on stage (making notes).

I can't imaging why either would need to. This debate calls for a soulful and personal discussion between the two. No pre-set punchlines.

New CDC guidance: no gathering of more than 50 people for the next 8 weeks.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Sunday called for the cancelation of in-person events of 50 or more people for the next eight weeks to try and prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The agency issued new guidance as governors across the country directed bars and restaurants to close down with the exception of carry-out or delivery business. Arizona, Ohio and other states have shuttered schools for weeks to try and limit transmission of the virus.

"Events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing," the CDC said. "When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual."

The guidance does not apply to large organizations like schools, universities or businesses, the CDC said, though many of those institutions have implemented telework or online classes. The advisory does not supersede direction from state and local officials.

I'm driving down to DC this week to bring my wife back to NYC...

My journalist friend has seen contingency plans and believe a lockdowns of New York and other major urban centers is very likely in the next week or two (Mayor De Blasio indicated this was a possibility in today's press conference).

Hoping to get her back Tuesday or Wednesday.

BREAKING: NYC to close schools effective immediately, through April 20

NEW YORK (WABC) -- New Yok City schools, the nation's largest school district, will be closed starting tomorrow until at least April 20th, Mayor de Blasio announced on Sunday. Long Island officials also closed schools for at least two weeks.

"It's going to be very difficult for a lot of families," de Blasio said.

The mayor warned schools could be closed for the rest of the school year.

Netanyahu rival Gantz to receive mandate for forming Israeli government

Source: Axios

The leader of Israel's Blue and White party Benny Gantz has won recommendations from 61 members of the Knesset, paving the way for him to receive the mandate from President Reuven Rivlin to form a new government after Israel’s third elections.

Why it matters: The fact that Gantz managed to secure 61 recommendations means that Rivlin by law has to grant him the mandate. This will allow Gantz to take control of the Knesset, appoint the speaker from his party, control the main committees and start pushing legislation that could prevent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from forming a government due to his corruption indictments.

The big picture: The coronavirus crisis has further destabilized the Israeli political system.

Netanyahu, who is heading an interim government, took several extreme measures due to the health crisis — including shutting down the courts and making it impossible for his trial to begin on Tuesday.
