In 2012, he wrote a Fathers Day essay for Bon Appétit about his childhood, his memories of his father, and raising his own daughter. "He taught me early that the value of a dish is the pleasure it brings you; where you are sitting when you eat itand who you are eating it withare what really matter. Perhaps the most important life lesson he passed on was: Don't be a snob. It's something I will always at least aspire tosomething that has allowed me to travel this world and eat all it has to offer without fear or prejudice. To experience joy, my father taught me, one has to leave oneself open to it."

You should know the Uihleins. Mega far-right repug donors.
Richard Uihlein, a wealthy shipping-supplies magnate from Illinois who shuns the spotlight, has risen to become one of the most powerful and disruptive GOP donors in the country.
For years, Uihlein has given money to isolated races in the service of his anti-union, free-market and small-government views. But he has dramatically increased his giving this cycle, pouring $21 million into races from Montana to West Virginia to ensure more conservative victories in the upcoming midterm elections, Federal Election Commission records show.
The beneficiaries of Uihleins largesse include upstart candidates such as Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel, who has made preserving the Confederate symbol in the state flag a centerpiece of his campaign for U.S. Senate. Uihlein gave tens of thousands of dollars to support failed Senate hopeful Roy Moore (R) in Alabama, doubling down even after multiple women accused Moore of unwanted sexual advances toward them when they were in their teens, FEC records show.
His wife, Liz, the company president and a political donor in her own right, has been more forthcoming about the couples political views in a regular column she writes in the companys catalogue, which features packing tape, shrink wrap and hundreds of types of shipping boxes. Recent notes have warned on the danger of Chinese competition, the negative health effects of marijuana use and the detriments of the Federal Reserves low interest rate policy.
Dick and I love reading newspapers and when we watch TV news, the channel is mostly set on Fox News, she wrote.

OK. Now I don't want impeachment. Rock meets Hard Place
Yes, nothing would give me more revengeful personal pleasure than booting Donnie Two-Scoops, His Orangeness, out of office and see him do the perp walk in an orange jumpsuit.
But that would only land us with Pope Pence The Pious.
And if he were able to run as the incumbent (post tRump impeachment and conviction) he would come across as a much more 'reasonable' and 'acceptable'(?) candidate.
Oh, and tRump would be a martyr.
So...I'm hoping that Mueller will be able to file criminal charges against Cadet BoneSpurs and bring convictions JUST AT THE END OF HIS TERM.
Timing is everything.
I STILL want to see the mutha do the perp walk.
Just sign me

Sad stats on the Alabama primaries
Statewide 24% of registered voters turned out.
I guess this means that if you could secure the support of 13% of the registered voters and could get them to come to the polls, YOU'RE IN!
In my precinct in BRIGHT red Baldwin county 26% of registered voters bothered.
Hey, it was raining.
67 of us voted Democratic ballots.
(Two of those were me and Miz t.)
743 voted Republican ballots.
Fuck it.
I give.
The tRump oath:
I swear by God this holy oath, that I want to offer unconditional obedience to the Leader of the Republican Party and members, Donald John Trump, the commander-in-Chief of the Entire United States Military, and be prepared as a brave soldier to risk my life for this oath at any time.
