About counter-demonstrations. 'Splain me this:

It seems like the majority of DUers think that if we don't turn out en masse that somehow the 'baddies'* win.

*'baddies' = neo-nazis, KKK, alt right, etc.

I just don't see what they win if there's no opposition.
I just see some people preaching to themselves with maybe a few cops standing around to make sure they don't get hurt.

They're not there to elect a mayor or city council.
They are there to get PUBLICITY.
Yes, initially the media will probably cover the event, EXPECTING a confrontation.
And when there is NONE, and it becomes a non-event, the media will cover something else.
Or else poke fun at the gathering.

It is worth a try.
Imagine if the drone images from Boston had shown only the few at the bandstand not surround by the counter demonstrators.
Just a small island of people in the midst of...nothing.

Hey, Tina liked my idea.
I still say it's the smart way.

And then there are all those confederate army bases

Ten Army posts in the South are named for Confederate officers — including the nation's largest, Fort Bragg in North Carolina. It's named for Gen. Braxton Bragg, who commanded 40,000 troops battling the Union Army.

The others include Fort Hood in Texas; Fort Lee, Fort A.P. Hill and Fort Pickett in Virginia; Fort Polk and Camp Beauregard in Louisiana; Fort Rucker in Alabama; and Fort Benning and Fort Gordon in Georgia.

(Bloomberg) -- Ousted White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon returned to the conservative Breitbart News website on Friday and said he’ll be “going to war” for President Donald Trump, vowing to intensify the fight he has waged against opponents of his brand of populist conservatism.

“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents -- on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America,” Bannon told Bloomberg News Friday in his first public comments after his departure was announced.
Bannon led the evening editorial meeting at Breitbart, where he resumed his role as executive chairman, the website said in a statement. A person who was on the call said Bannon called on the group to "hunker down" and work like never before to advance conservative causes.

Icahn steps down as Trump's special adviser on regulation

Source: MarketWatch

Billionaire investor Carl Icahn said Friday he's stepping down as a special adviser to President Donald Trump on regulatory-reform issues. Icahn said in a letter he and the president agreed that he would cease the role. He wrote that he didn't want "partisan bickering about my role" to cloud the administration or the work of Neomi Rao, who has been appointed Trump's regulatory czar. Icahn didn't mention Trump's reaction to the violence at a white-supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., but his resignation comes after several executives abandoned White House business councils after Trump said "both sides" were to blame.

Andrew Giuliani, this cosseted little shit, is on tRump's staff.

Giuliani attended Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey, and attended Duke University, where he played golf and aspired to become a professional golfer.[1] However, in 2008, Giuliani was cut from the team and sued the university, claiming, "his golf coach manufactured accusations against him to justify kicking him off the team to whittle the squad."[3]

The lawsuit was dismissed.[2] He later worked as a sales intern at CapRok Capital.[4]
On March 6, 2017, it was announced Giuliani would serve in the Trump administration as Public Liaison Assistant. His father had played a prominent role in Trump's 2016 campaign, and currently serves as a cybersecurity advisor to the president.[2][5]

Well, at least Tina Fey agrees with me.

I posted this on Tuesday:

They want confrontation. What if we don't play?
The WS WANT confrontation.
That's what gets them the publicity.
What if we didn't play?
What if we didn't give them what they want?

Just put the word out to not be there.
Let them march around with their tiki torches and chant and rant in a deserted area.
What do you think?

Colin Jost introduced Fey, who is a 1992 graduate of the University of Virginia, when she joined the SNL anchor desk to share her thoughts about the white supremacist rally that resulted in the death of Heather Heyer last weekend in Charlottesville.

'I know a lot of us are feeling anxious and asking ourselves, what can I do? I'm just one person, what can I do? I would urge people Saturday, instead of participating in the screaming matches and violence, find a local business you support, maybe a Jewish run bakery or African-American run bakery.'

She concluded by concluded by encouraging 'all good, sane Americans to treat these rallies this weekend like the opening of a thoughtful movie with two female leads. Don't show up. Let these morons scream into the empty air.'
