Progressives Support Shoring Up ACA Before Tackling Medicare For All

Despite a large division in the Democratic party over the best health care solution ― single-payer or a continuation and possible expansion of something like Obamacare ― progressives in Congress appear to be in lockstep with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s priority of shoring up the ACA before tackling anything like Medicare for All.

“I’m happy to support any provision that strengthens the ACA and plug some of the gaps that we’re seeing, particularly as it’s under assault by the president,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told HuffPost on Wednesday. “I think it’s part of a longer-term vision, at least for me, towards guaranteeing ― truly guaranteeing ― health care for all Americans.”

Yes, Props to Booker for letting it go and

and moving on by actually accepting Joe's apology.. I guess when you say Anita Hill you're referring to her saying... she "..could vote for Biden.. ".. that was certainly downplayed on here by Biden's detractors.

That's my first reaction..

why shouldn't Biden talk about it? It's an invaluable part of his resume.

It's obvious his detractors don't want him to talk about his experiences in the Obama Admin.. so.. all the more reasons to keep doing it!

I love your friend's thoughts on this, Peacetrain.. Thank You!

"What should he talk about?.. He is the only one with Executive Office experience, and he actually has participated in doing the job he is running for,..this is exactly what he should be talking about.. what you know and how do you plan to do the job"

Oh.. it's the "party hierarchy", is it? Too Bad..

James Clyburn and Emanuel Clever(who have earned their stipes) have opinions on why, after all the M$$$$M tearing Down of Joe Biden, there are many POC who are still supporting him.

Here's another opinion from a WOC in South Carolina who isn't in the ".. hierarchy" as you call it.

Biden’s comments “weren’t (offensive) to me,” said York resident Joyce Wilson, 53, who recently was still deciding between Biden, Harris and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. “(But) the news media just beat it, beat it, beat it and that kind of thing will cause divisiveness.”

This is a Wealth of Information.. I didn't

know Clyburn, as did U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo supported 'the dreaded Crime Bill" with excellent reasons.

I just read earlier around here that Assault Weapons were banned in that crime bill, too.

Thanks for the OP, highplains !

I'll just leave this little gem here from Brenda Peterson..

“I don’t think we need to do the infighting and I see it already,” said 62-year-old Brenda Peterson, of Columbia. “And I don’t think it’s a good thing for our platform. That’s what the general public is going to see. They’re going to see that you’re fighting already.”

I'm actually saying that Joyce Wilson Gets IT about

the "news media".

Joyce Wilson hasn't decided on a candidate yet..

Biden’s comments “weren’t (offensive) to me,” said York resident Joyce Wilson, 53, who recently was still deciding between Biden, Harris and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.

Good Reminder, Skya.. Thank You!

Former President Obama on Thursday heaped praise onto Joe Biden after his former vice president entered the 2020 presidential campaign, but stopped short of issuing an endorsement.

“President Obama has long said that selecting Joe Biden as his running mate in 2008 was one of the best decisions he ever made,” Katie Hill, a spokesperson for Obama, said in a statement.

“He relied on the vice president’s knowledge, insight, and judgment throughout both campaigns and the entire presidency. The two forged a special bond over the last 10 years and remain close today.”
