It's a good point.

There is no way of knowing how the winds blow behind the scenes. There may be more support for this than we realize -- or not. Perhaps not right now. In any case, this puts pressure on trump, on Pence, and on the Republicans who are backing them. Apparently we've reached that point, in Pelosi's opinion, where the topic needs to be discussed out in the open.

I'm with her. It's time that we as a nation face the fact that the person sitting at the top of our government is not just unqualified. He is unfit. Can we really make it to January with trump at the helm, as he is now? After an election that looks to be a complete blowout, will he be any steadier? No.

What about the terrorists* he's been stoking at rallies and on Twitter? The FBI has stopped one attempt at overthrow of a state governor, one that might have ended in her death. That's just what ONE of the many little neo-nazi groups has been up to lately that we know of.

Pelosi is right. She's making it clear that if trump can't control himself, his VP and his party need to do something to rein him in. It's time to talk about it now. Public awareness is necessary. Informed public opinion does matter.

*I originally called them militias. That word gives them a legitimacy they do not deserve.

Keith Olbermann finally said the words stochastic terrorism yesterday. How long will it take before the rest of media will finally start calling it out as well?

Of course an overwhelming majority of voters believe the Senate

should prioritize coronavirus relief over confirming a Supreme Court nominee. People are hurting. They worry about feeding themselves and their children, hanging on to their homes and their jobs. The Republican refusal to deal with this reality puts millions in dire financial straits, right before Christmas and winter.

There is a domino effect to this as well. People who can't afford food don't shop for Christmas presents. Holiday sales plummet, companies close, people lose jobs... welcome to the downward spiral. It is a deliberate move, to burn everything and salt the earth behind them as they lose their political dominance.

On the part of the Republican party, Mitch McConnell in particular, it is a intentional, calculated moral failure so great that it will never, ever be forgiven or forgotten.

I am reminded of a certain MASH episode.

Dear Dad... Three

Hawkeye opens another letter to his father during a 'typical' day at the 4077th. The overall theme is the boredom of daily camp routine, but not without moments of intense drama such as when Hawkeye treats a bigoted sergeant who does not want blood "of the wrong color" or when another soldier is brought into the O.R. with a live grenade in his body.

(Sorry about the really poor web design. It's still a fun read.)

I still have the lung power and I wore less makeup. This revival is closing November 3rd.

Perfect.

Agreed.

It wasn't as flashy, but the sentence that followed soon after was just as important.

"Donald Who?" will rise from their lips daily.

*They* were just being loyal to the party.

Party over country is a big reason why the likes of donald trump ever managed to get himself into the office in the first place. We can never forget that. So I completely agree and hope the shit sticks to every last one of them for good.

Never, ever let them off the hook for it.

The 25th Amendment wasn't really on the table until today.

People have been tap dancing around it, but even last night's Covida performance was going to go by with little challenge. This is different, though. What an idiot to bring this on himself in such spectacular fashion. Now it's only a question of how long and how far the people around him will let this go before invoking the 25th. Will the family break first, or will a few of the Republican Congress members find a spine and get involved? I hope they make up their minds soon, because this is ridiculous.

This is the part where trump forgot the rest of the Republican party also is affected

by crashing the markets. His 'base' isn't going anywhere, true. But the snooty upper echelons of the Republican party who are usually content to stay in the background, to mingle with one another, throw money at one another, and try their best to ignore the rest of us -- that powerful group of people is another story entirely. He has dared them not to turn on him, forgetting that they love their money more than they have ever loved him. Fatal mistake.

Or worse, they will visit one another anyway.

This is playing out right now in my family. One sib and I are staying in our respective homes for the holiday season. Other sib and extended fam all 'trust' one another and are pretending there is no problem, even though they live in three different cities, travel to congregate, and have varying levels of exposure due to work, etc. It's terrifying.
