For what it's worth:

And now DOJ gives a clue about why the committee might not want to hand over transcripts: When it gets them, DOJ says it will provide those transcripts to defense attorneys as part of its discovery obligations.

Why would providing transcripts to defense attorneys make the committee not want to hand them over?

Because once the universe of people with access to the transcripts gets larger, the ability of the committee to control that information and assure it doesn't leak is diminished. Right now, they have a monopoly over it, once it's in DOJ's hands, they lose that contorl.

I can see both sides of the argument here, leaning slightly to the committee. Leaks could destroy what they're attempting to do in persuading the American public that tfg and great gobs of the GOP tried to coup. The committee will hand over everything. Just not yet.

But Thompson also told reporters last month the committee may allow some materials requested to be reviewed in the panel’s offices.

This sounds like a reasonable potential workaround. A limited number of eyes would be allowed, and any leaks could immediately be traced to the perpetrator/s.

Twin Peaks Icon Julee Cruise Dead at 65

Julee Cruise, the singer whose ethereal music deepened the drama of David Lynch’s work, has died aged 65.

Her husband, Edward Grinnan, wrote on Facebook: “She left this realm on her own terms. No regrets. She is at peace … I played her [B-52’s song] Roam during her transition. Now she will roam forever. Rest in peace, my love.”

Cruise’s best-known song was Falling – its instrumental, written by Angelo Badalamenti, was used as the theme to Twin Peaks, Lynch’s iconic TV show that debuted in 1990. Lynch wrote lyrics for Cruise’s vocal version, which reached No 7 in the UK charts, was a hit across Europe, and topped the Australian singles chart. It was included on her debut album Floating Into the Night, released in 1989. [snip]

Her songcraft has earned her a passionate cult following, drawn to Cruise’s deceptively pristine and innocent delivery. “Technically this music is so delicate that it’s a challenge just to sing it,” she said in 1990. ‘‘But at the same time, it allows me to be more dramatic, more psychotic than if I were just singing ‘Oh, baby, baby’ into the microphone. Certain things you can’t overact while you’re singing. This, I can overact and get away with it. I can stylise it.” [more]

I am gutted. At least she is no longer in pain.

Peace, and thank you for your beautiful music, Julee.

Lila, the US Capitol Police therapy dog, was also present for the hearings.

I didn't know the USCP had a therapy dog. Lila is adorable and it's wonderful that she was there for everyone last night.

U.S. Capitol Police Adds Therapy Dog Named Lila to Its Ranks | Jun 16, 2021

Our nation's heroes who protect and serve need all the support they can get. Fortunately, members of the United States Capitol Police (USCP) will soon enjoy extra belly rubs, face licks, and ear scritches...compliments of Lila, a 2-year-old black Labrador retriever!

The USCP was established in 1828 "to protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment," according to its website. The force posted to Twitter last week to share its excitement about this new full-time addition to the department. While other K-9 officers over the years have assisted the force in bomb detection and patrol, Lila's position as a therapy dog is a first. Starting on July 5, the pup will offer support to USCP officers as they work through anxiety, stress, and other emotional issues. [more]

K&R for visibility.

Because the real headline that should have come out of yesterday’s hearings was not about Ivanka or Jared or hanging Vice President Pence or combat-like violence against Capitol Police. It is that the world’s leading democracy is in critical condition, and unless it can be saved through hearings like these, and by the actions of the Department of Justice and by voters going to the polls, the consequences for the entire planet will be profound.

I know. She obliquely points how much they needed the National Guard,

how the Guard should have been there. Regular police are not trained in combat, but the National Guard are. The NG was deliberately kept away because the people who planned this knew there would be a battle. They knew.

Quested's testimony makes it plain just how planned and coordinated this was.

The timing was no accident - PBoys arriving beforehand, scoping out their entry, blending with the crowd for cover, etc.

June 10, 2022

"The love. I've never seen anything like it."

That over the scene of a crowd beating the police mercilessly... 😔

*DOJ working with cooperating witnesses*

There's a quiet little bombshell for anyone listening closely.

Oh, and the "will be wild!" tweet specifically mentioned Navarro. I don't know why that didn't register before.
