About Me

I'm always on the lookout to connect with like-minded people, learn new things and debate the issues. I enjoy indoor gardening, traveling, going to the theater, reading and cooking. My great grandmother instilled in me a love for democratic politics. She lived through the great depression and talked about how essential FDR was in rescuing our country from the brink. My pronouns are he and his; I use they, them and their in posts when I refer to others when I do not know their gender.

CNN's Ohio undecided focus group is a gloomy bunch of people

Even though they determined that Obama won, they all look like they're sitting on thumbtacks.

The president comes out on top in CNN poll - 46% to 39%

46 percent Obama
39 percent Romney

Poll was of registered voters.

Is Romney an abusive husband?

Maybe not physically abusive, but I can see him as an emotionally abusive bully to his wife and kids.

Judging by how he carries himself, he's comfortable with bullying everyone around him.

Romney, the master con artist, takes the stage

Con artists succeed because they are smooth liars.

Romney is able to lie so effectively because he has no convictions. His lie becomes the truth of the moment.

Just voted!! Woot!

I love voting - Always feels good to cast my ballot.

One more for President Obama!

"The rich are on strike" - Romney and his allies say the economy will come back if he wins

These words from an article on salon.com have haunted me all day.

There have been so many wake up calls this election season, but this idea puts the stakes in such stark relief - the rich will continue to hold the economy hostage. It makes my blood boil. The fact that the rich even have this much power is disgusting.

If Romney wins and a GOP majority controls both houses of congress, the poor and middle class will be taxed to the bone so the rich can have their taxes cut. Who will stop them?

I honestly can't wrap my mind around the wealth transfer that has already happened... how corporations became people and limits on political contributions were abolished... the swift gutting of women's rights by the states... the house GOP majority's naked obstructionism.

Equally as mind boggling is the media narrative that rose so swiftly that says Biden was "hostile" and "angry," while Romney's disrespectful debate performance was judged to be the second coming of Lincoln... the Koch and Adelson billions being spent to game elections... a GOP candidate who openly mocks the 47 percent and is within striking distance of the White House.

It's as if we're characters in a political thriller novel. But unless I'm asleep and having a nightmare right now, it's all real.

Had to get all of this out of my head. I don't know what I would do without my kindred spirits on DU.

My mom in NC got called by an Obama campaign volunteer today

She lives in a rural part of the state that doesn't get much attention.

She's not usually into politics but told the volunteer who called that she appreciated the call and she's going to vote for Obama. Then she was asked if she would volunteer to do what the person on the phone was doing. She said yes!

My mom has never volunteered for a campaign in her life. And now she will be making calls to GOTV for President Obama!

Had to share because it made my night. Team Obama is committed to winning NC, and now my mom is helping.

Con artists are smooth talkers, but lies catch up with them eventually

That's why they're effective as con artists, but only for a little while.

Romney contradicted nearly every one of his already contradictory positions at the debate tonight.

This may not be evident to some people until tomorrow, but IMHO it's the real news that will come out about this debate.

People hate liars once they realize that they've been taken for a ride. Romney made it crystal clear tonight that every single one of his positions was either a falsehood or a lie the first time he said them. There are literally hundreds of hours of footage of him from the primaries, GOP convention and campaign stops. And just as many shifts in his positions.

And this man wears some kind of mantle of religious purity and piety? Speaks about unalienable rights like its something from a fortune cookie?

Give me a fucking break.

Thanks for creating the next etch-a-sketch ad, Mitt

He contradicted his earlier positions - maybe all of them - and it's all on tape.

Romney's a really bad actor with his chuckles

Maybe that's his homage to awful president's of the past.
