These governors believe their states' abortion-rights stances can lure businesses

Companies ‘want to be in a place where they can recruit good workers,’ Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont tells MarketWatch after the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade

As the nation faces a post-Roe v. Wade reality, some Democratic governors are playing up abortion protections in their states to try to entice companies to move there.

Touting their abortion laws as a selling point, the governors of California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois and Connecticut are pitching their states to potential defectors from other states that already have or will likely ban most or all abortions in response to Friday’s Supreme Court ruling.

“I’m not sure a CEO will choose a state because it’s pro- or anti-choice,” Gov. Ned Lamont of Connecticut said Friday in an interview with MarketWatch. “But I do know they want to be in a place where they can recruit good workers. And people, especially young people, will gravitate to a place that will protect women.”

Within the past few years, Lamont has written letters to businesses in states where abortion rights have been curtailed, and he continues to highlight the state’s values. “Do companies ask about the price of energy? Yes,” he said. “Do they ask about whether a place is welcoming for women? Absolutely.”

Here's Where Abortion Rights Will Be On The Midterm Ballot In November

TOPLINE Abortion rights could become a pivotal issue in the November midterm elections if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade this summer—as it may be poised to do, according to a draft opinion obtained by Politico—with broad implications for gubernatorial races in battleground states, party control of state legislatures and Congress, and more.

Control of Congress: election pollsters and strategists believe Republicans have a good chance to win majorities in the House and Senate, and the Washington Post reported they’re likely to try to pass a nationwide abortion ban that would ban the procedure as soon as six weeks into a pregnancy if they do.

Control of state legislatures: State legislatures will be pivotal for determining what abortion laws take effect in the absence of Roe; the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee said in a memo its biggest priorities are maintaining control in Colorado, Maine, Nevada, New Mexico and Minnesota, flipping state legislatures in Michigan, New Hampshire and Minnesota, and making inroads in GOP-controlled Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

Data Finds Republican States Are ‘Obsessed’ With Searching For Transgender Porn While Voting Against Trans Rights

By Isaac Serna-Diez — Written on Jun 23, 2022

According to the Human Rights Campaign, more than 300 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced this year, 2022 — many of which directly and implicity attack the transgender community.

These laws have prodominently been introduced in states dominated by Republican influence and show an increasingly aggresive dismantling of years of progress toward equality for all LGBTQ+ folk.

Despite the clear hatred towards the queer and transgender communities that Republicans show on the surface, there exists a much deeper connection between the right and the LGBTQ+ community that they want to keep under wraps.

Data has found that Republicans search for transgender porn in high volumes.
According to data compiled by Lawsuit.org and studied against demographic statistics regarding political alignment, “Republicans love transgender porn, A LOT.”
