The miscreant who went after Big Bird made the same mistake as Joseph McCarthy did a long time ago..

He Accused Ike's minister of Pinko shenanigans and then McCarthy showed up at a get together and went up to Ike, who turned his back on him and walked away. That was the beginning of the end for THAT asshole...this was the beginning for THIS asshole.

"Anyone here ever competitively run the outdoor one-mile race ?" Some thoughts on the debate...

So when I would go to an invitational track meet, I was generally unfamiliar with the runners or their tactics, so what I would do was at the starting gun, I would fall into line behind the first six runners and evaluate their performances during that first 220 yards based upon past experience, and quickly determine who might have certain elements which might defeat me, i.e. stride length increasing; the nature of their perception: incessantly turning the head to check nearby runners; faltering or reduction of pace followed by catch-up behaviors including pace and stride length, etc. which might demonstrate inability to last to the 'kick' at the end. Some runners would feel the need to lead in the early part of the race: except for the most talented this can be a real mistake: over-exertion, over-confidence, and inability to set pace with others is hazardous.

So it was with the President: he allowed the competitor to come out of the blocks and set his pace, fast...real fast. Instead of playing rock/paper/scissors, he allowed Mitty to sprint for nearly the entire time he was allowed to speak by that ineffective Lehrer, and Romney, who had memorized his lines well, TOO well by half, was blurting them out at a fantastic pace. In fact, one had to listen carefully to the sentence structure and illogic in order to understand the antecedents for many of the pronouncements. this the hackneyed expression: 'He was running off at the mouth'.

The President did not employ the usual debate tactics promulgated by experts: he didn't stare at Romney, he looked down at his notes, he often did not address the camera but talked directly to the so-called moderator. He also deliberately 'hemmed and hawed' at the beginning of each sentence which only stoked Romney further and made him frustrated and so he began to blurt out a few outrageous lies and statements which will be parsed to infinity (and beyond). The President addressed issues, did not prevaricate, and was clearly smiling grimly to himself and occasionally to us, as he performed these maneuvers. The result was that Romney performed a Banzai Charge last night, and then promptly fell on his Sword of Big Bird.

Now in the second lap, we shall have the Vice President hold his own against an amateur serial prevaricator (read: lying sonofabitch) which will be mildly interesting, but dismissed by the pundits as simply a warm-up to the third lap which is the important one here. During this lap, the President will leave Romney in the dust in one fashion or another, in order that the gun-lap, the fourth one, is a clear sprint for the President to the finish line. Romney will have no kick left and will be finishing about forty yards behind the winner.

Oh yes and one more thing: Eddy Rendell, STFU.

The last time I was this nervous in this fashion, I was awaiting my blind-date for the Junior Prom..

Yes... my date for the prom contracted mono...not from me I might add...and was incapacitated about a week before the "Big Event". My Mom's boss, an interesting lady, told her that I should call this girl who lived about 2 hours away. I called her and she was amenable and we decided to give it a shot. I will never forget getting dressed in a tuxedo for the first time ever, by myself, because my mother worked Saturday nights and no one else was around, and awaiting her arrival...

I actually thought even at the age of 17 that I was going to have a stroke any minute. My heart was pounding out of my chest and I couldn't breathe. I was scared to death about just about everything as you can imagine: What did she look like? How will she act? What if she finds me repulsive? What will I talk to her about? I had never been on a blind date, I probably had only been on a handful of 'dates' if you wanted to call them that in the Sixties. No support from anyone at all whatsoever in my family for a variety of weird reasons...

And so I sat waiting and asking myself all these questions and more and dreaming up scenarios which were simply awful.

And so I sit today, asking myself what's going to happen tonight...after all, it's only the fate of the Western World, right?

Oh...you probably are curious after reading all that how it turned out...

She was the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on to that point in my entire life...she was friendly and a bit quiet...I don't blame here for that....but some of the hotshots came up to me during the dance and shook my hand without saying a word. Yay! for me...for once...

It was a long time until I felt that good again....

Scott Brown = perfect date for Chrissy (Suzanne Somers) in Three's Company

They would utilize those actors who had no depth at all, but were handsome, as foils and of course, eventual losers. When Handsome loses in a few weeks, he can go for try outs for Cinemax After Dark....they often hire the over the hill looking guy to play the owner of the apartment house or bar or a lawyer(!) who winds up in bed With the hot Asian chick.

Not that I've ever watched one of those shows....

"I want you to be my porn star" (Allen West) = "I want to be your tampon (Prince Charles)

WTF is up with these guys? I thought 7th grade was over some time ago...

"Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Grandma was beating off the Indians" may be the new Zinger at this rate!

PPP (PCIntern Philadelphia Poll): Landslide approval for voters rights and to Re-elect the President

A pseudo-scientific survey taken of a random population of dental patients following the news that the Nazi-Klan-Fascistic Voter Suppression Bill was stricken down revealed a 100% agreement/weeping-for-joy/ecstatic reaction by the sample.

Results: Many respondents made note of the fact that the movement to restrict voting to those who are licensed to currently drive a car has motivated many who would normally not have voted to do so with vigor and vehemence. Preliminary data indicates that the general behavior will involve "pulling the lever with the big "D" on it" on election day. It has been reported by other researchers (G. Will & S. Hannity in a study entitled, "Trouble in River City: Blacks in the White House&quot that people who back Republican candidates, when found weeping, indicate that they are generally "displeased" with the ruling.

Conclusions: It has been demonstrated that the Romney/Ryan ticket is going to fall short by double digits in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

(Ed. Note: Too bad.)
