just saw the Romney-bus (get it? like omnibus) here in Philly

outside the Franklin Institute. I wondered why I'd seen State Police motorcycles on the road a few minutes earlier...we almost never have them out in the City, but there it was...

Lots o' cops and well-dressed men and women walking to the gala...

I had to run in for an emergency patient...thus I'm working an 18 hour day today.

Here in Montgomery County, PA we had ONE tornado ONCE about 5 years ago

and it was a seminal moment in my life. I was driving home and saw the funnel cloud clearly over my neighborhood which was about 1 mile away. The sky and the winds were nothing like I had ever seen and I turned around as fast as I could and drove away from the cloud which shortly dissipated. The four of us in the car were terrified and we still talk about that day: we were fortunate that the funnel skipped over a few houses including mine but there were trees and roofs destroyed all around us and power was out for two days. Remarkably, I found a piece of wood wherein the bark was stripped off so cleanly that the wood was polished and shiny underneath as though a carpenter had worked on it for hours to sand and shine it.

The point is, just ONE event was extremely traumatic: I give the people who live in these areas all the credit in the world for being able to survive, rebuild if necessary, and move on if they can. My heart goes out to these individuals who are subjected to these remarkably destructive forces of Nature. We shall see if Mr. Cantor and his minions feel that they are 'worthy' of aid and comfort from the Federal Government.

Once again: "Evil will always win out over Good, because Good is dumb.": A rant...

So this Rosen lady, in the employ of CNN no less, makes an energetic point about the status of the presumptive nominee of a party whose attempts to reverse all progress made by those of the female gender in the 19th and 20th Centuries are now obvious. Almost everyone, including, but not limited to the President himself go all "OMFG howcouldshesaythat?" and started apologizing as though a) she were working for the White House itself, and 2) anything was actually WRONG with that which she stated.

All day long, on more channels and radio stations than you can shake a stick at, the Republicans and their minions spout the most ridiculous lies, misinformation, and outright garbage and there is no hint of an apology...ever...from anyone. And, quite frankly, why should they? Hardly anyone ever takes them swiftly and crushingly to task for saying, for example, that 92% of jobs lost were lost by women, OR, that a certain offspring of a Democratic President of the USA is the White House Dog, OR that the current President is not a "Natural-born citizen", EVEN THOUGH THE NOMINEE OF THEIR PARTY IN THE LAST ELECTION MAY HAVE BEEN BORN IN PANAMA IN A HOSPITAL THAT MAY NOT HAVE EVEN BEEN BUILT AT THE TIME OF HIS BIRTH, (sorry...I digressed a bit), OR that the President is a Socialist, OR that 76-81 members of the US House of Representatives are members of the Communist Party (when you'd be hard-pressed to find that many in fricking CUBA, for God's sake).

Oh Rethug folk who troll here, SPARE ME THE OUTRAGE. You know, and you DO know, that your presumptive nominee is the most faceless, rudderless, fakir since I-don't-know-when. You're all gonna rally behind this Zero, this guy so stupid that he doesn't even realize that he's torturing his pet dog, as opposed to Michael Vick who at least KNEW that he was doing so deliberately. You know, you're in trouble when a creep like Vick looks reasonably honest next to your CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. I'll give your whack-job ultra-RW folk like the standard-bearer at Free Republic credit for one thing: at least they'll admit that he's a terrible phoney and that they can't stand him either. He would make Holden Caulfield's skin crawl, Ill tell ya that much.

But you Democrats who are all pearl-clutching about Rosen's remarks: grow at least a FIGURATIVE pair and stand up for what's going on and what's right for a change. ENOUGH with the "women work inside the home" stuff. OF COURSE THEY DO and IT'S REALLY REALLY DIFFICULT. But if you add the fact that many many many women MUST also WORK OUTSIDE THE HOME SO THEIR FAMILY CAN EAT AND TURN ON A LIGHT BULB AND WEAR CLOTHING, then it's well-nigh nearly-impossible task, and many many women are up to it and do a remarkable job. My own mother surely did - my father left when I was six years old. I certainly don't need lectures from Ann Romney about HER problems, when I didn't have a pair of shoes which fit me, had no electricity for weeks at one point, and couldn't afford to get the little tubes fixed on the TV so I could watch for almost a year. Hey "Ann", did your five strapping sons ever see you sitting in a chair crying incessantly out of frustration and shame because as it got dark, they couldn't see to do their homework? Well, this son saw his mother doing this, and so I say to anyone of her station who DARES to equate themselves with the working poor or middle-class, take your BS elsewhere: it's not welcome on my step.

Words utterly fail me...and that doesn't happen too often (as y'all know):

Lurid testimony opens trial of suspended Moorestown police officer
By Jan Hefler

Inquirer Staff Writer

Testimony began Thursday in the trial of a Moorestown police officer and his former girlfriend, who are accused of sexually assaulting three juvenile girls in his home over eight years, in one case allegedly videotaping their actions.

Robert Melia Jr., 42, who was suspended from his patrol job after his arrest in April 2008, sat in Superior Court in Mount Holly and scribbled continuously on a notepad as Assistant Burlington County Prosecutor Kevin Morgan gave sordid details of how Melia allegedly videotaped a blindfolded and bound girl being repeatedly violated with objects.

"Perhaps the most crucial piece of evidence was the video," Morgan told the jury, adding that the girl appeared to have been drugged.

Melia's girlfriend, Heather Lewis, whom the prosecution identified as the adult woman on the tape, is accused of assaulting the minor and forcing her to be her sexual partner.

Much much more at the link including two pictures AND you need to make sure that your breakfast is thoroughly digested:
What you also may need to know is that Moorestown, NJ is one of the most desirable communities in which to live in the USA. Over the years, it has been named many times in the top five by several organization who I suppose have the 'authority' to do so (!) and at least once, the MOST desirable all-around place. Sheesh.

I think the Jerky Boys are writing Mitt's material...

"136.5% of those who lost their jobs voted for the Democrat (sic and sick) candidate for President. 207.89% of them wound up with cancer having done so, so vote for me."

I mean...WTF is going on? What's next: Did you know that the face of the Man in the Moon is that of Ronald Reagan?

Are we really stuck with Luke Russert forever?

I know...I can always changed the channel...so maybe Ill watch FOX or CNN...I don't think so...
Watching him moderate the MSNBC discussions is like Junior High Student Council Meetings...

OK, so some of you jumped all over me yesterday after the horrible plane crash

because I had the temerity to state that in no time at all, the apologists for the military would be all over this story, changing facts and generally making shit up.

Well, guess what? I was not wrong...

Within minutes, Kyra Phillips on CNN stated that these two pilots were "heroes" because they tried to make it to the beach because, she added and I'm only slightly paraphrasing, all fighter pilots know that they must ditch over water or open territory so as not to hit areas which contain people and property (and oh yes, pets - musn't forget those). She apparrently has flown planes out of this "exact same runway" herself, and because the tail of the plane was horizontal, then blah blah blah, pilots doing an amazing job of not hitting a school.

First, how the Hell would she know what was going through their minds during the incident? She didn't interview them, she was just busy making excuses before she knew anything.

Second, the whole area is densely populated so if you crash on takeoff, you're gonna hit something civilian almost fer sure. Fair enough...I grew up near the Willow Grove Naval Air Station and we had some near misses and a couple incidents over the decades. It happens...but I have no recollection of the local news people making up stories a priori. what they USED to say was "The FAA and military investigators will have to investigate this incident." and leave it at that. They didn't make up plausible scenarios and state them as fact.

Third, and damn it, I KNOW I'm right about this: the lying-ass military-industrial complex is given a big pass even by those on Progressive Websites by those who think that they're all gung-ho-military such that you went after me when all I stated was that they were going to concoct a story, if they could, which would absolve the pilots if at all possible, reiterate that they do everything as safely as possible, and that if the pilots happened to be Republicans, then all the better - OK, that was a cynical remark, but not far off the center of truth. Those who have any kind of memory will recall the young lady who was the POW in Iraq rescued by a team whose exploits could have been portrayed in Marvel Comics. Turned out of course, that it was almost all BS. But that's OK...we need our stories of heroism and valor and since Audie Murphy's dead, and John Wayne was only a movie actor, then we have to come up with new ones for the new generation.

Fourth and finally, to those who typed out a knee-jerk response to my post: you might consider the bigger picture once in a while. It would do you some good - the fact of the matter was that all I really said was that I was awaiting the usual gabble-degook from the PR folk at the military and for that I was excoriated.

The pilots ejected with the plane aimed towards a residential area?

Really? Gee, I was under the impression that that was a no-no.
