Link to Rebeka Jones blog - she is running for office - but her data and analysis are worth a look.

I really haven't paid attention to her campaign since I'm not in her district. She is the programmer who was fired by DeSatan for refusing to falsify covid data.

Can someone in this group explain or provide a reference to the assertion of Rant Paul??

Fauci says the research was vetted.

Sorry if I missed it, but with Paul interrupting and all the yelling there was no explanation.

Thanks...

'Mr. Florida' hits barbers, vets, stores in Zephyrhills theft spree, cops say

https://www.tampabay.com/news/crime/2021/06/01/mr-florida-hits-barbers-vets-stores-in-zephyrhills-theft-spree-cops-say/

In the early morning hours Saturday, Zephyrhills police said, Lawrence Franklin King Florida entered the back area of The Great Catch restaurant, 5039 First St., and took beer and White Claw seltzer valued at $600 from a freezer. Florida threw the beverages into a retention pond behind the store, police said.

Next, according to the news release, “Mr. Florida walked to Massey Barbershop, 5330 6th St., broke a side window, entered the business, and took a set of clippers, charging stand, and Otium wireless earbuds.”
Lisa’s Barber Shop, 5517 Gall Blvd., where he broke the glass front door and stole five clippers and two pairs of scissors valued at $1,000.
The Carpet and Floor Source, 5527 Gall Blvd., where he broke a side window and entered but didn’t take anything, police said.
Living Foods Bakery & Cafe, 38201 10th Ave., where he stole about $800 in cash along with jackets and keys.
Zephyrhills Veterinary Clinic, 5655 Gall Blvd., where he broke a window, triggering an alarm, but apparently took nothing. Keys and a bag of coins were found in a dumpster at the business.
Cat Rescue, 38245 15th Ave., where he broke into a shed and stole, cat wormer, animal pain medication, and syringes.
A truck in the 5900 block of Ninth Street, where he broke in and stole tools in a briefcase.

Can you imagine the evidence presented at trial for Mr. Florida?

Fauci is right; DeSatan is wrong...

...the idiot governor of Florida rants and sues the CDC to "open" the state, remove masks in schools, and revive the cruise ships.

From todays report:
https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2021/04/16/florida-coronavirus-deaths-reach-35000/?

Positivity: Florida’s positivity rate was about 10.3 percent Friday, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Before reopening, states should maintain a positivity rate of 5 percent or less for at least two weeks, according to the World Health Organization. A positivity rate of 5 percent or less indicates testing is widespread enough to capture mild, asymptomatic and negative cases. The District of Columbia and 23 states currently have a positivity rate below 5 percent.

On average, the Florida Department of Health has reported about 6,277 infections and 53 deaths per day over the past seven days. It can take officials up to two weeks to confirm and report a coronavirus-related death, meaning the number of deaths added does not necessarily reflect the number of people who died the previous day. The health department processed more than 106,000 tests on Thursday, reporting a daily positivity rate of about 6.8 percent.

Even when Florida fudges the data, the state is no where near the numbers to "open up".

Failure at Piney Point: A disaster foretold

https://www.tampabay.com/news/environment/2021/04/17/failure-at-piney-point-a-disaster-foretold/

PALMETTO — As early as 2008, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was predicting possible disaster at the old Piney Point phosphate plant in Manatee County if a plan to use the site for dredging went forward.

The “worst case scenario,” the Army Corps cautioned, would be a tear in the plastic liner that engineers were counting on to hold back water perched atop dangerous waste material. Another worry the Army Corps raised: What if the private company in charge went bankrupt?

Since the latest leak was first noticed, a familiar pattern has emerged. Everyone involved is pointing fingers elsewhere. But records show officials at all levels — the state, the company, the county — had a hand in what Piney Point became. The county backed an idea to put more waste at Piney Point, the company looked at an environmental risk and saw a chance to profit, and the state stood by as a looming environmental danger festered on its watch.

“What we’ve learned is there’s no such thing as a future beneficial use of a phosphogypsum stack. These are wastelands, and they’ll be wastelands for generations to come,” Compton said. “The price is being paid by the taxpayers and the environment.”

A long (but accurate article) showing what happens when the repubs let irresponsible companies run wild. If you live in Florida, you see endless commercials from phosphate companies showing birds and fish and trees...while they absolutely ruin the environment and leave the mess to taxpayers.

DeSantis disputes that Florida denies pregnant women unemployment benefits. So why were they flagged

https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2021/03/30/desantis-disputes-that-florida-doesnt-deny-pregnant-women-unemployment-benefits-but-it-does/?

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Ron DeSantis is refusing to say why the state’s unemployment agency is denying benefits to Floridians who were pregnant, sick from COVID-19 or caring for children at home.

Beatrice said all of those categories of people qualify for federal pandemic-related benefits, such as the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, which specifically allows people to receive benefits if they are not “able and available” for work. But for those who aren’t able and available, Florida has been denying state benefits, the maximum $275-per-week Florida offers for those who are out of work.

As the Times/Herald reported, call center workers said they were told to create “issues” for people who said they were pregnant. Call center workers weren’t allowed to ask, but if it came up, they were required to flag the case, which would stop payments and lead to a lengthy arbitration process.

“They specifically told us in training to create these issues and to gather as much information as possible,” said Caitlin Polidoro, 29, who worked at a call center from March until September. “We weren’t allowed to tell them.”

The people denied unemployment included:

People who were pregnant and physically unable to work
Those who were caring for children at home
People who were sick with COVID-19
Those who didn’t have a form of transportation

These repubs are scum....

Georgia high school senior fatally shot by friend during target practice

https://abcnews.go.com/US/georgia-high-school-senior-fatally-shot-friend-target/story?id=76827845

A small community in rural Georgia is mourning the death of a high school senior after she was killed in an apparently accidental shooting on Tuesday.

Candace Chrzan, 17, was shot and killed Tuesday at about 8 p.m. while hanging out with friends in the backyard of one of their homes, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

Chrzan was a senior at Mount Zion High School in Jonesboro, Georgia.

"It was just a couple of friends out in the backyard, from what we were told, possibly doing target practice with a pistol," Ashley Husley, a spokesperson for the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, told Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB. "The kids obviously haven't been taught maybe the gun safety that they should have been. And ultimately it resulted in Candace's death."

People Control, Not Gun Control

This is my generic response to gun threads where people are shot and killed by the dumb or criminal possession of guns. For the record, I grew up in the South and on military bases. I was taught about firearms as a child, and I grew up hunting, was a member of the NRA, and I still own guns. In the 70’s, I dropped out of the NRA because they become more radical and less interested in safety and training. Some personal experiences where people I know were involved in shootings caused me to realize that anyone could obtain and posses a gun no matter how illogical it was for them to have a gun. Also, easy access to more powerful guns, guns in the hands of children, and guns that weren’t secured are out of control in our society. As such, here’s what I now think ought to be the requirements to possess a gun. I’m not debating the legal language, I just think it’s the reasonable way to stop the shootings. Notice, none of this restricts the type of guns sold. This is aimed at the people who shoot others, because it’s clear that they should never have had a gun.

1.) Anyone in possession of a gun (whether they own it or not) should have a regularly renewed license. If you want to call it a permit, certificate, or something else that's fine.
2.) To get a license, you should have a background check, and be examined by a professional for emotional and mental stability appropriate for gun possession. It might be appropriate to require that examination to be accompanied by references from family, friends, employers, etc. This check is not to subject you to a mental health diagnosis, just check on your superficial and apparent gun-worthyness.
3.) To get the license, you should be required to take a safety course and pass a test appropriate to the type of gun you want to use.
4.) To get a license, you should be over 21. Under 21, you could only use a gun under direct supervision of a licensed person and after obtaining a learner’s license. Your license might be restricted if you have children or criminals or other unsafe people living in your home. (If you want to argue 18 or 25 or some other age, fine. 21 makes sense to me.)
5.) If you possess a gun, you would have to carry a liability insurance policy specifically for gun ownership - and likely you would have to provide proof of appropriate storage, security, and whatever statistical reasons that emerge that would drive the costs and ability to get insurance.
6.) You could not purchase a gun or ammunition without a license, and purchases would have a waiting period.
7.) If you possess a gun without a license, you go to jail, the gun is impounded, and a judge will have to let you go (just like a DUI).
8.) No one should carry an unsecured gun (except in a locked case, unloaded) when outside of home. Guns should be secure when transporting to a shooting event without demonstrating a special need. Their license should indicate training and special carry circumstances beyond recreational shooting (security guard, etc.). If you are carrying your gun while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you lose your gun and license.
9.) If you buy, sell, give away, or inherit a gun, your license information should be recorded.
10.) If you accidentally discharge your gun, commit a crime, get referred by a mental health professional, are served a restraining order, etc., you should lose your license and guns until reinstated by a serious relicensing process.

Most of you know that a license is no big deal. Besides a driver’s license you need a license to fish, operate a boat, or many other activities. I realize these differ by state, but that is not a reason to let anyone without a bit of sense pack a semiautomatic weapon in public, on the roads, and in schools. I think we need to make it much harder for some people to have guns.

My theory...Major can smell repubs from a mile away!!

https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/30/politics/major-biden-dog-white-house/index.html

The Bidens' dog Major has been involved in another biting incident that required medical attention, two people with knowledge of the incident tell CNN.

The incident, which involved a National Park Service employee, took place on the White House South Lawn on Monday afternoon. The employee was working at the time and needed to stop in order to receive treatment from the White House medical unit.
First lady Jill Biden's press secretary Michael LaRosa told CNN that Major is "still adjusting to his new surroundings."
"Yes, Major nipped someone on a walk. Out of an abundance of caution, the individual was seen by WHMU and then returned to work without injury."

I really don't think in FL folks see why the loss of a senate seat to Voldermort was important...

...I remember how terribly hard it was to get money or traction to defend the Democratic seat in Florida even though there were plenty of marches and rallies here for lots of causes.

It seems obvious that Florida needs to recruit and run high quality candidates. Florida needs to get out there (like GA), because it has so many national implications.

Pinellas went blue for Biden. Charlie Crist and David Jolly have left the GOP, and both were/are solid politicians whether you agree with them or not. That was actually a victory instead of having to run against either of them.

Who can beat stupid Scott???? What will get people out to vote??? It's very frustrating.

Who would you run for Senate?

I'm looking for Val Demings for Senate.
