Facebook removed a video featuring former President Donald Trump, a company spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday, citing his indefinite suspension from the platform.

The removal tests just how far Facebook is willing to interpret its suspension, which followed the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. The video featuring Trump was posted by his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who was interviewing the former president. Lara Trump had teased the interview in an Instagram photo of the sit-down on Tuesday.

An email Lara Trump posted to her Instagram account later on Tuesday shows a message warning her team about uploading the video. The email reminded them that “content posted on Facebook and Instagram in the voice of President Trump is not currently allowed on our platform (including new posts with President Trump speaking) and will be removed if posted, resulting in additional limitations on accounts that posted it.” A Facebook source confirmed the veracity of the email.

A second email posted by Lara Trump said Facebook had removed the video once she had uploaded it to her page.

“In line with the block we placed on Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, further content posted in the voice of Donald Trump will be removed and result in additional limitations on the accounts,” the email said.

Eric Boehlert: Fox News flop -- where's the anti-Biden Tea Party?

PRESS RUN
Fox News flop — where's the anti-Biden Tea Party?

Joe Biden is a riddle that Fox News can't solve — at least not during the Democrat's first two months in office.

Forced by Trump's seven million-vote loss to go on the offensive against the new president — after playing defense every day for the Republican — Fox News ought to easily open up its well-worn playbook for a Democratic administration and seamlessly make the partisan transition. It's the same outline the network used while Barack Obama was in office — relentlessly depict the center-left Democratic president as a dangerous, socialist interloper determined to overturn the American way of life.

Key to whipping up that national frenzy in the spring of 2009, was the emergence of the supposedly grassroots Tea Party movement. With Murdoch's network providing free, nonstop marketing and promotion, soon thousands of people took to the streets to protest Obama’s policies, just weeks into his presidency.

Today though, Fox News can't seem to muster the same anger and excitement to consistently denounce Biden, who to many viewers probably looks like their brother, uncle, or father — a built-in advantage of being a white man in American politics. Obsessed with fighting cultural wars while Biden enjoys solid public support after signing the widely popular Covid relief bill into law, Fox News remains adrift in the Biden era, as Trump remains mostly in seclusion in Palm Beach, Florida. (Trump insurrectionists have shown no interest in protesting Biden in the streets.)

Instead of leading a large scale revolt against Biden and his sweeping legislative proposals, Fox News prefers to play small ball. "Less than two months have passed since Joe Biden’s inauguration, and the network is already responding to the country’s new era by obsessing over similarly absurd and imaginary battlefronts," Vanity Fair noted this month. "The network spent an hour and nine minutes of airtime on the supposed cancellation of Dr. Seuss on Tuesday—more than twice as long as its coverage of the coronavirus vaccination effort on the same day."

Meanwhile, Biden plays it cool, refusing to provide any oxygen for partisan brawls. Over the weekend, when a reporter excitedly asked Biden what he thought of the news that Trump might go down to the border to basically stage a "crisis" photo-op, the bemused president said simply, "I don’t care what the other guy does."

Biden's Infrastructure Plan To Be The Biggest Since The New Deal

Biden’s Infrastructure Plan To Be The Biggest Since The New Deal

President Biden is expected to propose a $2 trillion infrastructure plan that would be the biggest since The New Deal

The Washington Post reported:

Biden is expected on Wednesday to unveil a more than $2 trillion package focused primarily on physical infrastructure such as roads and bridges; major investments in housing, clean energy, and manufacturing; and a major investment in home-based care for the disabled and elderly, among other measures, according to two people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal details of the internal discussions.

Then, the White House will unveil a second plan, in several weeks, that includes an expansion in health care insurance coverage; an extension of the expanded child tax benefit; and paid family and medical leave, among other efforts aimed at families, the officials said. White House officials have not explained whether they will seek to have both efforts pass at the same time, or try to get Congress to approve one first. The combined price-tag of the plans could top $4 trillion.

A Brookings Institute analysis found that it would take $4 trillion in spending to hit New Deal levels of federal outlays on infrastructure.

On the rare occasions in previous decades when Congress could agree on an infrastructure bill, the pricetag has usually been in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Biden and the Democrats are proposing the sort of spending on the nation’s critical infrastructure that the United States hasn’t witnessed in decades.

President Biden and Democrats in the House and Senate are putting together a transformative government that is dealing with big problems, and this sort of spending will improve the lives and communities of people for decades to come.

Biden to Unveil Infrastructure Plan

Sigh. Sure would be nice if the WaPo could crow about how this could get done instead of bemoaning why it can't.

Biden to Unveil Infrastructure Plan
March 31, 2021 at 6:08 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“President Biden will unveil an infrastructure plan on Wednesday whose $2 trillion price tag would translate into 20,000 miles of rebuilt roads, repairs to the 10 most economically important bridges in the country, the elimination of lead pipes and service lines from the nation’s water supplies and a long list of other projects intended to create millions of jobs in the short run and strengthen American competitiveness in the long run,” the New York Times reports.

“Biden administration officials said the proposal, which they detailed in a 25-page briefing paper and which Mr. Biden will discuss in an afternoon speech in Pittsburgh, would also accelerate the fight against climate change by hastening the shift to new, cleaner energy sources, and would help promote racial equity in the economy.”

Washington Post: “The administration’s promises are vast and may prove difficult to enact, even if the effort can get through Democrats’ extremely narrow majority in Congress.”

LAWYER UP!
Dominion Voting Systems is adding a new team of lawyers as they prepare for their current lawsuits—and another potential round.

With billions of dollars in lawsuits now in the balance, Dominion Voting Systems has quietly expanded its legal armada in recent days, as the election technology company goes after Trumpworld and conservative media giants.

Clare Locke—the legal firm spearheading Dominion’s lawsuits against Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell and pillow magnate Mike Lindell—recently brought in seven attorneys from the Texas-based firm of Susman Godfrey, which has experience litigating against the so-called “Kraken” suits filed by one-time Trump attorneys Lin Wood and Sidney Powell.

“There are great synergies between the work that the Susman team had done on the 2020 election and the defamation cases we were pursuing for Dominion,” Tom Clare, from the notoriously aggressive law firm Clare Locke, told The Daily Beast.

“As those discussions unfolded we also discovered the two firms have a great cultural similarity in having a ready for trial approach to litigation,” he added. “I think it's going to be a very effective team.”

Dominion expanding its legal team is the latest effort to punish leading players in the months-long propaganda push to trash the company and baselessly assail the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential contest.

Former President Trump is still facing an avalanche of separate lawsuits, probes, and criminal investigations, including ones stemming from alleged sexual assault, his family-run business empire, the bloody Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and his broader anti-democratic efforts in the wake of the 2020 election.

In recent months, Trump—who now no longer enjoys the legal protections that come with being president—has privately quipped that his enemies will be investigating and “suing me for the rest of my life.”

It must be reassuring for former President Donald Trump to know that, regardless of how many scandals he endures, he’ll always have at least one loving fan—himself. Trump has set up a new website to help him stay in touch with supporters and it includes the most absurdly glowing review of his presidency ever written. It manages to completely overlook the unprecedented disgrace of being impeached twice as well as his relentless attacks on democratic institutions. Instead, it lauds Trump’s “magnificent legacy,” and claims that his handling of the coronavirus pandemic—which has seen the nation record by far the worst death toll in the world—actually “saved countless lives.” Trump also credits himself with building “the most robust testing system in the world” during the pandemic, even though he repeatedly urged for fewer tests to be carried out to decrease recorded COVID-19 case numbers. The bio goes on to laud Trump for creating “the most extraordinary political movement in history, dethroning political dynasties, [and] defeating the Washington Establishment.”

Former president and longtime race baiter Donald Trump made waves over the weekend when he suggested in a Fox News interview that officials had requested his presence at the increasingly chaotic southern U.S. border. “Well a lot of people want me to [go], the Border Patrol and the people of ICE want me there and have asked me to go,” Trump told Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro. “I feel I sort of owe it to them.”

Trump set what advocates described as a new mark for cruelty at the border by separating families from their children and instituting a “Return to Mexico” policy that left migrants vulnerable and exposed. Now that a so-called surge of migrants, including children, has threatened to overwhelm U.S. officials in the early days of the Biden administration, Trump appears determined to capitalize on it.

But if the ex-president enjoying lingering support among the rank-and-file of CBP and ICE is more than plausible, at least one of the agencies tasked with enforcing U.S. immigration law distanced itself from any visit.

“There is no official ICE personnel communications that went out,” Paige Hughes, spokesperson for ICE , told The Daily Beast, adding that she could not speak for what individuals or their union representatives might have done.

Press ignores bombshell — Trump negligence cost U.S. 400,000 Covid lives
Eric Boehlert

Trump’s deliberate failure to protect the American public from the Covid-19 pandemic led to hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths — nearly half a million fatalities, according to a new study that's being ignored by the news media. It’s the same press corps that’s been demanding Trump receive more Covid “credit.”

snip//

Why were news consumers recently fed two weeks of Beltway news coverage about the fact Biden's first formal press conference was slightly late coming, yet there’s been almost no coverage about how Trump's deliberate neglect led to nearly half-a-million deaths? How can that chasm of coverage inequity possibly be explained or reconciled?

Is it possible the press doesn't want to accurately label Trump a stone-cold Covid killer because they're anxious for his return to the political stage? If so, it's in their interest to portray him a mainstream political player, not somebody who consciously turned his back on the country while a year-long public health crisis spun out of control.

All through the pandemic, the political press remained reluctant to address the bigger, darker questions about Trump and why an American president seemed willing to watch the country crumble and decay on his watch — why a president would wage war on his own people the way Trump did. The press preferred to explain the staggering Trump failures as him being “distracted,” or not fully engaged in the once-in-a-century crisis.

We now know the staggering toll for his neglect — 400,000 dead Americans. That's more than perished in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, combined. The press can't keep looking away from Trump's criminality.

Biden's CDC Director: If You're Not Scared Shitless About COVID-19, You Should Be

Levin Report
Biden’s CDC Director: If You’re Not Scared Shitless About COVID-19, You Should Be
Dr. Rochelle Walensky warned Monday of “impending doom.”
By Bess Levin

With more and more of the country opening up a year into the pandemic, it might seem as though life is returning to normal, and that COVID-19 will soon be in the rearview. Obviously, that would be a welcome development after 12-plus months of lockdowns and death. Yet according to Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the new director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. is rapidly moving in the wrong direction on COVID-19 and, in her professional opinion, people should be shitting themselves in fear over what will come next if the country doesn’t get a handle on cases.

During a press briefing on Monday, Walensky told reporters: “When I first started at CDC about two months ago I made a promise to you: I would tell you the truth even if it was not the news we wanted to hear. Now is one of those times when I have to share the truth, and I have to hope and trust you will listen.” Warning of what she sees happening down the line based on the surge in new coronavirus cases, a visibly shaken Walensky said, “I’m going to pause here, I’m going to lose the script, and I’m going to reflect on the recurring feeling I have of impending doom. We have so much to look forward to, so much promise and potential of where we are and so much reason for hope, but right now I’m scared. I know what it’s like as a physician to stand in that patient room, gowned, gloved, masked, shielded, and to be the last person to touch someone else’s loved one because their loved one couldn’t be there. I know what it’s like when you’re the physician, when you’re the health care provider, and you’re worried that you don’t have the resources to take care of that patient in front of you. I know that feeling of nausea when you read the crisis standards of care and you wonder whether there are going to be enough ventilators and who’s going to make that choice. And I know what it’s like to pull up to your hospital every day and see the extra morgue sitting outside.”

The U.S. is currently recording a weekly average of 63,239 new coronavirus cases per day, a 16% increase from a week ago, according a CNBC analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University, while the U.S. is seeing a 4.2% increase from last week in hospitalizations, up to a seven-day average of 4,816 coronavirus admissions as of Friday. Per CNBC:

Leading public health experts have warned since late February that infections could pick back up again amid the rise of virus variants threatening to sweep across the U.S. much like they did in Europe. One of those variants first identified in the U.K., known as B.1.1.7, has now been detected in every state except Oklahoma, according to the CDC’s most recent data. The agency is also carefully watching another variant found in New York City, known as B.1.526, which is also thought to be more transmissible compared with previous strains, Walensky said last week.

The White House’s chief medical advisor, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said Sunday, however, that the troublesome virus mutations aren’t the only reason cases are on the rise. More Americans, tired of pandemic restrictions and reassured by the lifesaving vaccines, are traveling for spring break. Some state leaders are pulling back on restrictions, including mask mandates, intended to slow the virus’s spread. “Variants we take seriously and are concerned, but it is not only the variants that are doing that,” Fauci told CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday.
