Maxine Waters: "Oh no, I wont go! I'm not going to sit down with him-I'm not going to pretend"

“I tell you, that has been a problem in my party,” Waters replied. “That when we’re in power, we’re nice. We bend over backwards to work with people. Trump has stepped over everybody. He has no respect for his own colleagues, let alone those on the opposite side of the aisle.”

“He’s called names, he’s lied. Everything to show that he doesn’t have good values and he can’t be trusted,”
she continued. “Why should we work with someone that we can’t trust? He’ll tell you one thing today and another tomorrow. As a matter of fact, those people who voted for him ought to be really concerned about the fact that he has already backpedaled on so many of the promises he made. And so, I have no intention of pretending everything is alright, that we’re going to work together.”

“As a ranking member of the Financial Services Committee, where he said he’s going to bring down Dodd-Frank and he’s going to get rid of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I’m going to fight him every inch of the way.”

“Are you saying then that you would not sit down with President-elect Trump if he invited you to the White House to meet on common ground?” Soboroff pressed.

“Oh no, I won’t go! I’m not going to sit down with him, I’m not going to go. I’m not going to pretend. I’m not pretending,” Waters shot back before adding, “Why should I trust him?”

Nuclear experts: Trump tweets could provoke global crisis

Nuclear arms experts warn that tweets from President-elect Donald Trump could bait countries with nuclear weapons.

The Washington Post’s Greg Sargent spoke with several nuclear experts about the potential impacts of Trump’s tweet published last week, in which he said the U.S. “must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability.”

“Imagine we’re in a crisis — if he recklessly Tweets, people could read these things in the worst possible light,” said Jeffrey Lewis, a nuclear non-proliferation expert at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. “The North Koreans have a plan to use nuclear weapons very early in a conflict. They’re not going to wait around. If they think we are going, they’re going to use nuclear weapons against South Korea and Japan.”

Lewis also told the Post that if Trump “says the wrong thing” and “gives the impression that we’re about to act” with nuclear weapons, North Korea could use that as “their signal that they have to go.”

Bruce Blair, a nuclear policy specialist at Princeton University, told the Post that it would be easy to read Trump’s tweets as warnings to other world leaders. He said Trump conducting “nuclear diplomacy by Twitter” could make an already prevalent situation much worse.

“Almost any threat could be perceived as warranting some sort of response that’s not only rhetorical, but operational,” Blair said.

Israel will brief Trump on intelligence it collected on Obama.

Israel has evidence Obama behind UN settlements resolution, Israel's U.S. envoy Ron Dermer tells CNN, calling it a 'shameful chapter in U.S.-Israeli relations.'

Israel has evidence that U.S. President Obama's administration is behind Friday's Security Council resolution, Israel's Ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer told CNN on Monday.

"We will present this evidence to the new administration through the appropriate channels. If they want to share it with the American people they are welcome to do it," Dermer told CNN.

According to Dermer, not only did the U.S. not stand by Israel's side during the vote, it "was behind this ganging up on Israel at the UN." Dermer said it was "a sad day and a shameful chapter in U.S.-Israeli relations."

In his first public reaction to the vote, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that the Obama administration has carried out an underhanded and an anti-Israel maneuver at the UN Security Council.
