http://abcnews.go.com/US/hurricanes-iselle-julio-headed-hawaii-big-surf-dangerous/story?id=24878349Beachgoers on the Big Island of Hawaii will have one final day at the water's edge today as the first of two hurricanes headed for the state are expected to make landfall tonight.
Hurricane Iselle will bring winds of up 65 mph and surf as high as 20 feet when it hits the Big Island sometime around 8 p.m. tonight. Beaches around the island have been flagged as "high hazard" areas by state authorities.
"Everybody says this is the last day of good weather, so we came down to the beach," tourist Shonna Snodgrass, visiting from Stafford, Virginia, told the Associated Press
The storm will move toward Oahu and Maui early Friday morning, drenching the most popular tourist destinations in the state with up to 8 inches of rain, with the potential for coastal flooding and wind damage.

The company signed a long-term lease with CNL on Wednesday for 91,226 square feet, believed to be the largest lease in the downtown business district since the Great Recession. The lease includes naming rights on the building.
The company also said it plans to hire 70 new employees in two years for the new headquarters, mostly in information technology. A culinary center and tasting room will be located on the first floor of the building, with some windows offering views from the lobby.
Supporters of medical marijuana amendment 'disappointed' by Florida Medical Association's opposition
http://jacksonville.com/news/health-and-fitness/2014-08-06/story/supporters-medical-marijuana-amendment-disappointed-floridaSponsors of a ballot amendment to legalize medical marijuana in Florida say the recent opposition to the amendment by a state medical lobbying group is misguided.
The Florida Medical Association came out Monday against Amendment 2, saying the measure doesnt properly protect patients.
In criticizing the amendment, the organization urged its membership to refuse to prescribe medical marijuana if the amendment passes until products are approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
The amendment, which goes before Florida voters Nov. 4, would legalize medical marijuana in Florida for certain patients.

No offense meant by my thread, of course. I'm so accustomed to people trashing my music (disco especially). It's one of the few things I have a very thick skin about. I can't tell you how many times I've had to endure disco being utterly trashed, and yes I didn't argue back, just dealt with it. MrScorpio, your political opinions rock, fwiw. Some of the rock music enthusiasts take utter delight in trashing disco. Ok ok, I get it, you hate disco, next topic please.
If it makes anyone feel better, some songs I liked were dissed. I just don't care for KFF. I'm sure many don't care for my favorite, which is an EDM song . Anyway, we live and let live. No disrepect meant to anyone, sincerely.
Steve

Checking in on the 90-year-old vet who is running across America
http://news.yahoo.com/90-year-old-runs--and-hitchhikes-when-he-s-tired--across-the-country-135545407.htmlIf slow and steady really does win the race, count Ernie Andrus as the world champion.
The 90-year-old World War II veteran started running/jogging/ambling across the country last October from San Diego. In June, when CBS News profiled him, he was in Payson, Ariz. And now, more than 10 months after he started, he has crossed into New Mexico, according to his Facebook page, which keeps his fans updated on his whereabouts.
Andrus, who runs three days a week, isn't sprinting straight across the country, per se. Each running day, he sets off, covers as much ground as his 90-year-old legs will carry him, and then catches a ride back to his RV. He drives to the spot he stopped running and chills out until he's ready to set off again.
While Andrus is in fantastic shape, he isn't shy about asking for help when he needs it. He told KPHO that hitchhiking back to his RV at the end of each run is no problem. "I know I can stick out my thumb and the first person to come by will give me a ride. They wont pass up this old man out there, you know."
