Hawaiian tourist suing Boyd Gaming after employees confronted her about gender

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/oct/10/tourist-suing-boyd-gaming-after-employees-confront/

A tourist is suing Boyd Gaming Corp. after a group of employees surrounded her, accused her of being a man trying to use the ladies’ restroom and smirked at her when she told them she was a woman, according to a complaint filed in Clark County District Court earlier this month.

Susan Ho, who travels from Hawaii to Las Vegas often, was in town for a bowling tournament at the Gold Coast on Oct. 6, 2011, when the incident happened, according to the lawsuit.

The complaint, which accuses the company of discriminating against Ho because she is a lesbian, outlines the following details:

Ho was in the bathroom at the casino when a woman in the restroom assumed Ho was a man. Ho clarified her gender for the woman, and when Ho left the bathroom, five to six casino employees were waiting for her.

Himalayan 'Yeti' may be a relative of ancient polar bears

http://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-himalayan-yeti-polar-bear-relative-20131017,0,748170.story

The Himalayan Yeti — or some version of that mythical creature — may be a relative of an ancient polar bear, according to new research by a University of Oxford geneticist.

Bryan Sykes, a human geneticist at Oxford, analyzed the hairs from two alleged Yetis, one that came from an unknown animal mummy in the western Himalayan region of Ladakh and the other from an animal discovered 10 years ago in Bhutan.

Sykes sequenced the DNA from each of the two hairs and then looked for a match in a large database of other animal genomes.

What he found surprised him.

Houston newspaper says it didn't 'un-endorse' Ted Cruz

http://www.usatoday.com/story/onpolitics/2013/10/16/ted-cruz-houston-chronicle-regret-endorsement/2992953/

The Houston Chronicle says it did not "un-endorse" Ted Cruz.

Earlier Wednesday, we wrote about how Sen. Cruz's hometown newspaper in Texas expressed "regret" and voiced it's "disappointment about endorsing the Republican for U.S. Senate." The Chronicle has written a clarification about its editorial, so we're updating our post to reflect that.

The editorial in Wednesday's editions titled, "Why we miss Kay Bailey Hutchison," took Cruz to task for contributing to the "chaotic, hyper-partisan atmosphere" in Washington.

"We did not pull our endorsement of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz," the Chronicle posted Wednesday afternoon on its opinion blog. "Our references to Cruz served to provide context to the Hutchison tribute by emphasizing her ability to reach across the aisle when necessary."

Not that liberal: 5 surprising facts about Millennials and politics

http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/15/20973490-not-that-liberal-5-surprising-facts-about-millennials-and-politics?lite

Young people are often characterized as supporters of all things left, but an exclusive new Esquire-NBC News survey defies that conventional wisdom.

After asking 2,410 people more than 100 questions each about their beliefs, Robert Blizzard, a Republican pollster, and Daniel Franklin, a Democratic pollster, found that a majority of people in America are less divided than the partisan Congress and feuding pundits might lead the public to believe.

And survey results for the 434 people within the age group of 18 to 29 who participated reveal a slew of surprising facts specifically about Millennials’ political leanings.

Millennials are not all lefties

“You assume that they’re liberal because they vote so democratic,” Blizzard said. However, “there are as many young Millennials on the secular left as are on the religious right,” Franklin noted.

Bachmann Claims Obama Close to ‘Dictatorship,’ Puts Impeachment on the Table

http://www.mediaite.com/online/bachmann-claims-obama-close-to-dictatorship-puts-impeachment-on-the-table/

In the same interview where Michele Bachmann weighed in on Miley Cyrus spoofing her, the Republican congresswoman also had some tough words for President Obama, even going so far as to suggest impeachment should be on the table.

She told Rusty Humphries in a conference call sponsored by TeaParty.net on Tuesday that “we can have an impeachment hearing in the house” because she believes Obama “has committed impeachable offenses.” Removing Obama from office is off the table, though, because the Senate determines that action and the Democrats currently hold it.

Bachmann bashed Obama’s “thuggery,” and at another point said the fight over Obamacare isn’t just that, it’s a battle for “whether or not we will hold onto a constitutional republic.”

“I want the Tea Party to know they made a profound difference and what they’re fighting for is to see if we’re actually going to be a constitutional republic or if we’re going to be totally devolved into a dictatorship under somebody like Barack Obama.”
