NYT: People Are Making Out. Everywhere. "Everyone's kind of slightly lowered their standards."

People Are Making Out. Everywhere.

Starved for P.DA., some are taking New York’s reopening as a cue to start “swallowing each other’s faces.”

On a Thursday afternoon in June, just days before the summer solstice, the scene in Hudson River Park looked straight out of a Thomas Cole painting: Bees and butterflies dancing in the air, the water sparkling in the distance, its less attractive parts smoothed out by the midday sun.

Plenty of couples were taking advantage, as if they had seen the tabloid photos of a lip-locked Bennifer as a sign from the universe that being touchy, romantic and happy in public was OK again.

A pair pressed their faces together beneath a tree, turning this way and that way for selfies. A few feet away, two bodies were intertwined on the ground, their heads hidden by a flannel shirt. Two others lay side-by-side, gazing up at the limbs and leaves of a lush tree.

“Everyone’s kind of slightly lowered their standards, or maybe opened up their idea of what they find attractive,” Ms. Delarosa added. She recently overheard a customer tell a friend: “I’d make out with him. Before the pandemic, probably not.”

snip

“You have to live your life now,” she said. “People are full-on swallowing each other’s faces on Friday and Saturday nights.”

CNN reported this morning that Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul who Biden fired ....

... went to work this morning anyway. I don't know if he went into his office or was planning on working
remotely from his home. What is the matter with these people? "They" are really testing the limits on what
they can try to get away with on all fronts.

Oh BTW Biden fired him Saul, because he refused to resign.

I might have part of this post wrong I only heard CNN's reporting on this one time and from another room.

*****

Update they turned off Saul's access to his work computer.

started a program to get women into the sciences and engineering, and then elected to congress.

Mayor Peter taught himself Norwegian so he could read a book in its original language and a Rhodes Scholar too.

Nancy Pelosi's office calls Trump a 'twice-impeached Florida retiree'

I know this has been posted before but this makes me happy.

********************
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday mocked former President Donald Trump, referring to him as a "twice-impeached Florida retiree.""Twice-impeached Florida retiree — and de facto leader of the Republican Party — Donald Trump," Pelosi's office said in a statement.

snip

Trump during a press event on Wednesday said the deadly insurrection was "unfortunate" and the Capitol riot suspects "are being treated unbelievably unfairly."

snip

He is "decrying how rioters 'are being treated unbelievably unfairly' now that they are facing legal consequences for their actions," Pelosi's office said. About 550 people have been charged in the Capitol insurrection so far.

snip

The House of Representatives in January voted to impeach Trump over his role in the Capitol insurrection, which made him the first president in US history to be impeached twice. The House first impeached Trump in December 2019 on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress for seeking election assistance from Ukraine.

Trump permanently relocated to Florida after leaving the White House earlier this year.

Sept/2015, Trump's interest in Hitler had been known from before the 2016 election. This should ....

.... not be new news.

But did we hear about this? No, but we heard 24/7 about Hillary, her emails, and her email server.

Sadly I think at least 50% of Trump supporters are totally fine with Trump getting "tips from Hitler."

Donald Trump's ex-wife once said Trump kept a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed

According to a 1990 Vanity Fair interview, Ivana Trump once told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that her husband, real-estate mogul Donald Trump, now a leading Republican presidential candidate, kept a book of Hitler's speeches near his bed.

"Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed ... Hitler's speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist," Marie Brenner wrote.

Hitler was one of history's most prolific orators, building a genocidal Nazi regime with speeches that bewitched audiences.

"He learned how to become a charismatic speaker, and people, for whatever reason, became enamored with him," Professor Bruce Loebs, who has taught a class called the Rhetoric of Hitler and Churchill for the past 46 years at Idaho State University, told Business Insider earlier this year.

"People were most willing to follow him, because he seemed to have the right answers in a time of enormous economic upheaval."

Why are the republicans and Fox News against the vaccine?

Because it works. And it works even in ultra red counties and states and that will make Joe Biden look good.

Make the GOP own pandemic in 2022.

Paul Krugman, "We've gained three million jobs since Biden took office."

It’s Morning in Joe Biden’s America (Oh, and so much for Donald Trump’s warnings that there would be a “Biden depression” if he weren’t re-elected.)

Last Tuesday President Biden’s Council of Economic Advisers published a blog post warning everyone not to make too much of any one month’s employment report. It presumably released this in advance of Friday’s report to fend off possible accusations that it was just trying to make excuses for a weak number. As it happened, however, the report came in strong: The economy added an impressive 850,000 jobs.

The job gain was especially impressive given widespread claims that businesses couldn’t expand because generous unemployment benefits were discouraging workers from taking jobs. (Recent benefit cuts in many states came too late to have affected this report.) Well, somehow employers are managing to hire a lot of people anyway.

snip

At this point, however, we have enough data in hand to declare that the economy is booming. In fact, it’s booming so strongly that Republicans have pivoted from claiming (falsely) that we’re experiencing the worst job performance in decades to lauding the employment numbers and giving credit to … Trump’s 2017 tax cut.

snip

We’ve gained three million jobs since Biden took office, or 600,000 jobs a month. This compares with gains of 340,000 a month in the year leading up to the 1984 election.

Quick everybody look at the border. "Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine sending state troopers to U.S.-Mexico border"

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142765764

Let me guess "they" are gonna make border security and issue in 2022 & 2024 because Joe, Kamala,

and the rest of the Biden team are doing such a good job on everything else.

This is all kabuki theater. Good God in Butter what a fucking waste of money and manpower.

I hope none of the Ohio State Troopers gets sick and or dies in the heat on the TX/Mexico border in July and August.
