Sanders proposed the 4/14 date at the end of January, it still had not been accepted ...

at the end of March.

When exactly did she accept that date?

The first mention I saw was After the Sanders campaign published a letter on March 27 trying to get the Clinton campaign to lock in a date for the April debate.

"He suggested the April 14th date way back, but as soon as Hillary agreed with him... sorry, no deal, previous engagement!"

Did the Clinton campaign expect the Sanders campaign to hold that date open for months while trying to schedule other events?

Sanders Campaign Statement on Debates
January 30, 2016

DES MOINES, Iowa – Bernie Sanders’ campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, issued the following statement Saturday on negotiations over additional debates:

“After refusing for months to participate in more debates, Secretary Clinton requested that the Democratic National Committee rules be changed and that a new debate take place in New Hampshire next week. We agreed pending an agreement on three future debates in March, April and May. Unfortunately, the Clinton campaign has not accepted debates we proposed on March 3 in Michigan and April 14 in New York. They apparently agreed to May 24 in California. The Clinton campaign, after not accepting Michigan, now says they want it. We are pleased to do it on March 3 before the Michigan primary provided the Clinton campaign will agree to Brooklyn, New York, on April 14. Why won’t they debate in Brooklyn? What’s the matter with Brooklyn?”

Sanders Challenges Clinton to Debate in New York
March 27, 2016

"BURLINGTON, Vt. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Sunday challenged Hillary Clinton to debate him in New York before the state’s April 19 primary election.

“I would hope very much that as we go into New York state, Secretary Clinton’s home state, that we will have a debate – New York City or Upstate, wherever – on the important issues facing New York and, in fact, the country,” Sanders told Chuck Todd in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Fresh off sweeping victories on Saturday in Washington, Alaska and Hawaii, Sanders was looking ahead to upcoming primaries in Wisconsin and New York.

He told The Associated Press it was “really absurd” that Clinton so far has refused to agree to a debate with him in her home state.

Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager, wrote a letter on Sunday to Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, underscoring the senator’s call for a New York debate.

“New York will play a critical role in determining the Democratic nominee. However, your campaign has consistently chosen to deny the people of New York the opportunity to see Senator Sanders and Secretary Clinton debate in the Empire State,” Weaver wrote to Mook............"

Can he do a major rally in Manhattan and debate on the same night? Can Clinton hold a fundraiser and

debate at the same time?

"What's made for History:

A limited edition collection from fashion's biggest names, designed to help elect the first the first woman president of the United States and Democrats from coast to coast."

Vote for me, I am woman!!!

Weaver: Not going to engage in a process where the only time we have debates is when Clinton feels

under pressure.

Sanders Counters Clinton’s Debate Challenge With His Own
January 28th

"Bernie Sanders sees Hillary Clinton’s challenge, and is raising the stakes in their race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

A day after Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, urged Sanders to participate in a proposed, unsanctioned debate next week, the Vermont senator, her closest rival, fired back with a call for more debates.

.....Clinton’s call for more debate opportunities is relatively new, and comes as the race in Iowa has appreciably tightened and as Sanders passed her in New Hampshire polling.

....."From the beginning of this campaign Sen. Sanders has called for more debates. Secretary Clinton has not,” Weaver said in a statement. “Now she is asking to change the rules to schedule a debate next week that is not sanctioned by the DNC. Why is that? The answer is obvious. The dynamics of the race have changed and Sen. Sanders has significant momentum.”

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders agree to four more debates

February 3rd

"Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have agreed to add four more debates, including one this Thursday in New Hampshire just days before that state's primary...."

Remember when the divisiveness began on DU, I do, it was spring/summer of 2014...

with posts that stated 'old white males should just fade away' and give way to a younger generation.

Afterwards it changed to more of a racial divide and 'not good enough Bernie' it did not matter that Sanders was on the front lines for equality, that was just glossed over.

Kudos to Black Men for Bernie for going out there and confronting the issue and taking a stance against the negativity and racial bias, last I read they are in Philly, then NY and across the country to California.

Problem is the younger generation is not as constrained by parties, they look at issues above fighting for a label, so the general election will have less willing soldiers/participants to go along with what the establishment would like to see.

But the idea of separating people, be they older white males, racial minorities or gender preference needs to be acknowledged and pushed back as a reason to support or deny their chance to survive in our nation.

We all need to strive for a better world and not segment people by some false sense of equality, but seek common ground on issues where we agree upon.

Thank you! Bernie Sanders, Automation, and the Fate of the US, this is an excellent essay that ...

should make us all think, just skimmed through it, but put the title in the header for my reference

Not sure why this was not kicked, discussed more days ago, but too many good threads sink.

Well we have different family members and yes several Repubs voted for Obama in the GE ....

guess our family is not as much aligned to a party, sorry they do not always fall in line. Personally I think that is good attribute, otherwise we could just plaster a D or an R on their them from birth.

We have several members that are in their late 80's and broke with the Repubs. Sorry that you seem find that offensive that they broke party lines and 'are dictating to us.'

Please read what you wrote, our family is compromised of both parties and they cross lines when given a reason.

I find it weird when people have a closed mind, sorry but we are not marching in lockstep ... really strange I know.

And several have changed their party affiliation to vote in primaries.

We have weird thinkers in our family, sorry but they are not always going to raise the team flag and I think that is a good thing,
