A HOLIDAY song I wrote some years back

As a little background, I love Christmas and nearly everything about it except for Black Friday and junk gift shopping (most people don't need or use the crap people buy for them). Anyway, I decided to write a Christmas song at one point and the opportunity came after a job on a silly show I was a "producer" on went on hiatus in 2013. I'm no musician, but I did have Garage Band so I started looping some riffs together, not knowing what the theme or words would be. Given my antipathy for reich-wing politics, it evolved into a bit of a parody which I was pretty impressed with. I based it a little on the old Rankin Bass type Christmas specials, as it turned out. It hasn't become a hit YET... but I'm sharing it here which I did years ago because I think the message is just as relevant today as it was ten years ago. Perhaps you'll agree.
Enjoy!!!

Just heard on MSNBC, verbatim

Cornell Belcher: They've gotta start telling the story, and I will remind you that back when Reagan said it was morning in America and ran what is now a famous political ad on America turning around and the economy getting better, Americans weren't exactly happy and excited about the economy then either as we were coming out of economic downturn. But all the president can hope to have is a good story to tell and these numbers, no matter how you paint it it's a steady line of progress in the American economy and a lot better than what we're seeing in Europe.

Chris Jansing: The other argument Cornell is that you can tell people what the numbers are but if they're not feeling it and that's what the poll suggest, that they're not feeling it it's a hard argument to make.

IN OTHER WORDS...
Cornell Belcher: It's been proven that you can successfully communicate an economy that's turning around when people aren't feeling it and then win reelection.

Chris Jansing: But the numbers show people aren't feeling it.

Now THAT'S great journalism.

Someone needs to tell Nikki Haley

She keeps insisting we need a consensus on abortion. Someone please tell her we've had a consensus on abortion for 50 years. She's just been living under rQck.

She enjoys a rep as one of the less crazy rebuttlickers, but she simply regulates the crazy depending on who she's talking to and how poorly she's doing. She's just scum.

LET'S GO, BRANDON (Presley, that is)

Brandon Presley is probably the best Dem shot at the Mississippi's gov mansion.
Fun Fact: Presley was born less than a month before his famous second cousin died in 1977.

How long before they heed leader Jeffries?

Last week House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries suggested in an op-ed that the [white nationalists] needed to get on board with a consensus Speaker candidate that (some?) Democrats could support. It wasn't just shouting from the peanut gallery. There's one big point Jeffries didn't make for his case in the op-ed and that is how can Republicans choose one leader when the winner can only lose four caucus votes. Even if one of the two power-hungry idiots throws their support behind the other, there's no predicting what protest contingent will pop up in this rust bucket of House [white nationalists] because they are either totally nuts or because they're trying to walk a fine line between totally nuts and a little less nuts since they're seeking reelection in a district that Biden/Harris won.

If the Speaker race goes on for weeks, the latter group from the [white nationalist] party may go with the Jeffries solution. This isn't a prediction exactly, but the question remains - can an idiots-only non-consensus Speaker candidate win in this atmosphere?

Pre-Felon Endorses Another Former Wrestling Coach Implicated in Sex Abuse Coverup for House Speaker

Those people don't learn from history. First is the history of Republican wrestling coaches in House leadership. Than there's the history of the pre-felon not only picking losers, but losing every court filing in the cases in which he's involved in on a daily basis. And then there's just the poor judgement of someone involved in a sex abuse coverup using a state of undress as his signature. magas don't get tired of the losing.

NO, Amy McGrath!!!

Dear Amy,
The republican party was never THE party of national security. That was only successful marketing of an untrue notion. So please stop saying the republican party used to be the party of national security every time you appear on TV.

We all appreciate your service. We are grateful to you for your run against Moscow Mitch. We are lucky to have you as a Democrat, but here are some facts you may want to consider.

- FDR saw us through WWII through which the U.S. emerged stronger in the world than at any previous point in history.

- The National Security Act of 1947 which serves as the foundation of our current national security structure was signed by Harry Truman.

- JFK led us through the Cuban Missile Crisis where the Soviets backed down in a confrontation in the biggest nuclear showdown in our nation's history.

- Barack Obama gave the order that killed Osama Bin Laden (whose killing generated ridiculous conspiracy theories among republicans).

- Joe Biden has restored faith among U.S. allies in addition to expanding NATO.

Amy, the republican party has sold itself as very few things, particularly since the days of Reagan. They became the party that stood for national security (in name), unregulated capitalism, and crippled government. Remember that "the great" Ronald Reagan credited with "bringing down the Soviet Union" was president during the attack on a U.S. Marine barracks in Lebanon in 1983. His term as president ended with the shameful Iran-Contra scandal. Al Qaeda attacked us during the W. Bush administration which led to a war in Iraq which had no connection to Al Qaeda. Donald Trump antagonized our allies and sucked up to Vladimir Putin.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party has stood for national security in addition to so many other elements of a functional modern democracy, perhaps to the point where the issue of national security becomes just one of many areas of concern. Meanwhile, the republicans who aren't even that great at national security have drummed into you that national security is their thing. It's somewhat understandable - when all you do is sell yourself as a a baloney sandwich, all people will see you as is a baloney sandwich.

Amy, it's time to stop buying the baloney sandwich.

Too old for what???

The guy who got more done in one term as president than most get done in two terms is too old for what?

Here is a list of many available detailing some of Biden's legislative and executive successes.
https://www.npr.org/2023/01/01/1143149435/despite-infighting-its-been-a-surprisingly-productive-2-years-for-democrats

I'd rather vote for a competent 82-year old with a moral compass than a profoundly stupid thin-skinned 78-year old failed dictator bent on vengeance and a complete autocratic rule.

Go Joe!!!

Watch your backs, Lindsey Graham et al.

You dodged an indictment. For now. All eyes are on your crooked asses and there's no guarantee that some further evidence against you may come out in the future, particularly as you unprincipled, rats who think your corrupt crap don't stink continue turning on each other and throwing each under the bus in attempts to save your oily hides. The door isn't closed on having your asses hauled in front of the mug-cam so you may wanna practice the expression for your closeup now. This ain't 1950 and the privilege you think you have may be way more diminished than you think. And lastly, lawyers are expensive and Trump isn't going to pay your way. So keep that in mind as you continue to stain your Hanes while claiming that the "criminal justice system is weaponized against" your guilty asses.

The Modern Democratic Party has ALWAYS been

The Democratic Party has ALWAYS been:
The party of national security
The party of law and order
The party of good economics
The party of foreign relations
The party of working people
The party of rights
The party of education

No more of this "the Republicans used to be the party of [whatever]."
