England creates dedicated duck lanes

Quack, quack!

Pedestrians and bikers who travel along narrow towpaths in English cities including London, Birmingham, and Manchester are warned to take it slow as dedicated "duck lanes" have been put in place.

Similar in concept to bike lanes in cities around the world, the stark white duck emblems on the asphalt indicate specialized lanes for the cities' slow-waddling friends.

Richard Parry, chief executive of the Canal & River Trust says the paths was created to encourage travelers to respect the space.

We buy too many clothes, and we pay too little for them. $5 t-shirts are killing people

We buy too many clothes, and we pay too little for them.
That's the message of "The True Cost," a new documentary on the perils of the fashion industry, which is being released next week.

The film is a sweeping, heartbreaking and damning survey of the clothing economy. It covers malformed children of pesticide sprayers in India's cotton belt, gruesome shots of the deadly 2013 Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, Indian rivers frothing with chemicals, and mountains of discarded clothing in Haiti.

"I believe these clothes are produced by our blood," Shima Akhter, a Bangladeshi factory worker, says in the film. "I want the [factory owners] to be aware and look out for us, so that no more mothers lose their kids like that."

Textile waste in a Dhaka, Bangladesh landfill.

The film interviews a factory owner in Bangladesh, who says the constant pressure to produce cheaply is partly responsible for the unsafe conditions.

"Is it really ethical to buy a T-shirt for $5, or a pair of jeans for $20?" asks Livia Firth, creative director at the sustainable businesses consultancy Eco-Age.

clearly, from the police report the Duggars had both genders in the same bedroom

They had at least ten kids when the molestation obscured. five to room? They weren't rich then so the rooms must have been small and crowded.

Downside of gigantic family.no privacy. No ability to separate teen boy
From young girls?

Maybe this is more the parent's fault.

blanket training - how Michelle Duggar taught them to "exercise self-control in any situation"

Q: What is blanket training?

A: Starting when her children are toddlers, Michelle teaches them to play quietly with a single toy for short periods of time, often while sitting on a blanket. Blanket training teaches small children to exercise self-control in any situation (with or without a blanket). As the kids grow older, Michelle begins training them to sit quietly without a toy. Click here to read more about the process Michelle uses to teach her 19 kids to be "quiet and still."

the man who invented online harassment of abortion providers died last month

The origins of online stalking of abortion providers.

Neal Horsley died last month at the age of 70. You may not recognize his name, but chances are you’ve heard of how he terrorized abortion providers and made them fear for their lives. His tactics, still in effect today, continue to threaten abortion providers across the country.

Horsley was the anti-abortion extremist responsible for assembling the infamous “Nuremberg Files” website. The website was ultimately the subject of a lengthy legal battle testing the line between free speech and a true threat, a legal boundary the Supreme Court is currently reconsidering.

Horsley’s website, created in 1997, listed roughly 200, as the website called them, “abortionists.” These abortion providers were listed in three different fonts, as described by the site’s legend: “Black font (working); Greyed-out Name (wounded); Strikethrough (fatality).” In addition to this list, the website included the abortion providers’ personal information, such as their home addresses, phone numbers, and photographs.

The website, donned with blood-dripping graphics, both celebrated providers’ deaths and, with a wink and a nod, encouraged others to harm the remaining providers on the list so that more names could be crossed off.

Mike Huckabee's Facebook Fans Tear Him To Shreds For Defending Josh Duggar

Mike Huckabee's Facebook Fans Tear Him To Shreds For Defending Josh Duggar
The former Arkansas Governor may have finally done something too crazy for his base.
This morning, GOP presidential contender Mike Huckabee posted a lengthy Facebook status affirming his “support for the Duggar family,” saying that Josh Duggar – who confessed to molestation – is being attacked by “blood-thirsty media” and deserves “our support.”

This set off a surprising reaction among Huckabee's Facebook fans, with a chorus of his once-supportive Republican loyalists declaring that he had lost their vote over his words on the matter. Here are a few examples:
